I make it to the hotel after an evening of drama. It was too late to worry about the concert so I hang out wishing I had come with Elliott. A couple of weeks ago I would have said Chris but things are a little different between us now. The Backstreet Boys brought us together, I never thought anything Backstreet related would put a strain on our friendship. I didn't even tell her I was coming to Las Vegas. After hanging out on the strip and eating a late dinner of steak and eggs I make it back to the hotel around eleven. I step out of the shower and flop on the bed wrapped in my towel, I leave a message on Eric's cell phone letting him know I was in town and ok. I tell him my room number and that I'm going to bed and that I would see him in the morning.
It was ten in the morning and I step in the shower and get dressed after talking to Eric. It was Vegas so I felt the need to wear a dress for whatever reason. I knock on Eric's door and of course he and Andre were dressed. He grabs me into a hug and squeezes me tight while spinning me around. I stand in the hall as Lisa follows them out. We give each other a hug and head downstairs,
"Ok, so what are we going to do?" Lisa pulled a brochure out of her bag,
"I picked up a tourist guide, we can decide over breakfast." We all nod and try to figure out where we were going to eat as we walk through the lobby. I turn and lock eyes with Larry and smile as he walks over,
"What are you doing here? When did you get here?" I smile,
"Eric invited me, I got here last night after you guys had already left for the concert." He nods and looks me over,
"Never seen you in a dress, you look nice." I smile and pretend to be embarrassed by his comments,
"Aww, thanks." I want to ask and he knows it but I don't want to break down and look as if I care,
"We better get going, we're going to breakfast. Hey, you wanna go?" He shakes his head,
"Nah, I'm working remember?" I roll my eyes and groan,
"Oh yeah, you gotta babysit." He smiles and then looks at me as if I was a little kid getting reprimanded with the parental look,
"Does he know you-" I shake my head,
"No, don't tell him ok?" He nods and waves as we leave,
"See you." I smile and lock arms with Eric as we walk out the door,
"You're going to the concert tomorrow night right?" I shake my head,
"No, I was supposed to make the last night's. I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon."
"You know eventually he's going to see you right?" I shake my head,
"Maybe not."
Back after a day of sight seeing I took another shower and dressed up a little and made my way to the casino with Eric. So far I have been successful in avoiding Nick but I still have tonight and tomorrow afternoon. Once inside the casino, I watch as Eric plays blackjack and I become bored quickly,
"I'm gonna go play the slot machine." He laughs,
"You're such a girl." I bat my eyelashes,
"I never said I wasn't." I walk over to the slot machines and begin to play losing like there was no tomorrow. Suddenly I see a green sweatshirt and a wild mess of hair and realize it's Nick coming into the casino, he walks by and doesn't even see me. I get up and walk out of the casino when I see him walk towards the blackjack table and sit near Eric. Between him and Larry, I know it won't be long before Nick knows I am in the casino, he probably knows I'm in town. Back in my room, I strip down and put on a T-shirt and a pair of shorts and flop down on the bed.
I was almost asleep when there was a knock on the door and I jump almost out of my skin. I open the door to see Nick and Eric standing before me,
"Hey." Eric, standing in front with a big grin on his face, speaks up,
"Um hey, have you seen my watch?" I look down at his arm and back at him with a silly grin on his face,
"No." I look over to see Nick and now Larry had stepped into view,
"Oh, I must have asked Lisa to hold it, I thought I asked you." He steps aside and pats Nick on the shoulder,
"Well guys I gotta go find my watch, I'll see you later. We're still going to the club tonight right?" Nick and I both let him know we are and then look at each other, it was so obvious this was a set up, I'm not sure if Nick realizes that, but I do know by the look on his face that he is confused.
"Ok, I'll come get you on the way out." I nod as he walks off. Nick shoves his hands in his pockets,
"I didn't know you were here." I nod my head,
"Yeah." He leans in and gives me a hug,
"It's good to see you." I can't believe he is acting like everything is ok. What IS wrong between us? It's not his fault I got my feelings hurt because he slept with Marnie,
"Yeah, um come in...if you want." He nods and walks in and Larry stands at the door,
"I'll be in my room, call me when you're ready."
