Chapter 81

The recording process was over and so were the two photo shoots, both of which Nick hated.  He was tired of being so perfect and so polished, not a hair out of place, eyebrows perfectly arched.  He was sitting in a Miami radio station waiting to walk into the room with all the fans and the three DJs he had been listening to for the past fifteen minutes.  Howie was in LA, Kevin was in Boston, AJ was in New York and Brian was in Chicago.  He sipped on his water and looked up to see a young woman standing before him looking a little unsure of herself,
"Hi, uh we're ready, if you're ready to go." He nodded and smiled as he stood up and offered his hand,
"Hi, I'm Nick."  She smiled hesitantly,
"Hi, I'm Tara."  He followed her into the studio and the screams were immediate, he waved over at the thirty or so fans that were in the studio.  Once his headphones were on he nodded at the DJs,
"What's up man?"  He smiled over at them, this was one of the most annoying things about the music industry, fake radio people.  They smiled and called you buddy to your face but  once you were gone they talked major shit about you for the sake of a laugh.  One of the DJs, Dan, spoke up,
"Hey man. How are you?  In a way I want to say it's been a while but it hasn't been that long.  It's been about what?  Six months since your last single and you guys are ready for another album already?"  Nick nodded,
"We put out the last single like ten months ago and the album came out like a year and a half almost two years ago.  So, it's been a little while."  Of course, they had to talk about the personal life first,
"Now, your name has been in the news lately.  It's all about who you've been dating, so tell us right here right now, who are you dating?"  Nick didn't laugh for the sake of making everyone comfortable he sighed loudly into his microphone,
"It's been crazy, I mean, everyone just needs to chill with all that stuff.  I am single now."  Loud cheers came from the fans and he smiled half-heartedly and the female DJ spoke up,
"Aww Nick, you look a little down.  Is it still hard? You lonely?"  He shrugged,
"It's..I'm alright, I mean, we were together for a long time but it's ok, you know, you just have to move on."  Pete, the third DJ, laughed,
"Yeah, you've been moving on alright.  Now, I got the inside scoop on a new National Enquirer story about you.  It says that you broke up with your girlfriend of over two years, who lived with you, for a girl out in LA, the girl you were seen fighting with on the beach, which we're gonna talk about too, then you broke up with her to date...and this is what I want to know about...Chloe Grant."  Nick sat back in his chair and sipped his water, dreading this, a new story in the National Enquirer?  He thought it was all over with,
"I don't like to talk about my personal life because once you start it doesn't stop, people never get enough, you think if you explain something it will be the end of it but people want more and more.  I'm saying this now I did not break up because of anyone else, it was just time; we both felt we needed to move on."  He hoped that would be the end of it but it wasn't, he knew better,
"Ok, so did you see the video of the fight you had on the beach?"  He nodded as he glanced over at the fans, he knew a lot of the fans had been upset with that and he never commented on it,
"Yeah, look, that was blown way out of porportion, it wasn't that bad.  We had an arguement and it was just...people made more out of it than it was.  She and I are cool, we still talk.  I have sisters and I would never hurt a girl...I know I would bust somebody's ass for hurting one of my sisters."  He figured that would finally end it all but Moira, the female DJ kept with the questions,
"So, we want to know about Chloe Grant.  What's up with that?"  Nick smiled slightly, he was fooled, he thought she was on his side,
"Nothing, we aren't dating, I just went to the premiere with her for her movie that's it."  Dan laughed,
"You guys looked real good together.  There were reports that you guys were dating."  Nick shook his head,
"I don't know where that came from.  That's not true at all dude, but I will give you guys a scoop."  They laughed and cheered,
"I just finished the final recording of a song for her next movie, it should be out in like three months...you know, in fact, that's how we met."  The PR representative who accompanied him, only he and AJ had PR with them just in case they slipped, was ready for them to get down to the business at hand, the single and talk of the new album.
