It had been a week since the movie premiere and the stories were outrageous. There were still stories about his fight with Lexi on the beach. It had been played everywhere, everyone had an opinion, it was discussed on the radio and the internet as well. Of course MTV had to get into the mix and had everyone sending in their opinions on mtv.com. They sat in a conference room with Steve, two PR representatives and a record label executive. Steve stood up,
"Ok, next month, three weeks to be exact, we release our first single to radio. We worked it so each of you will go to a different city and be there when they play it. New York, LA, Chicago, Miami and Boston. You guys can decide what cities, I don't care." They nodded and looked around Nick speaking up,
"I want Miami." Steve nodded,
"Ok, we'll take care of that later. Now, we still need to re-record on a few songs and decide the final track listing; we got two weeks to get all that done. Alright you all have the schedule in front of you but I'll run over the immediate stuff quick and let me know if you have any questions." He looked up briefly to see if anyone had any questions but they all seemed to be following along,
"Next week, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, you have a photo shoot with for the CD. The week after, the first single is released, you have a photo shoot with one other photographer for the CD." Kevin sighed,
"Are we going to be working our butts off everyday? Brian cleared his throat,
"I thought we were supposed to be finishing up the CD?" Steve smiled slightly,
"You guys know how it is. It won't be as bad as you think. You're off for the rest of this week. Next week all you have is a photo shoot and sone magazine interviews. The week after a photo shoot plus the single release and there are only three songs that need to be worked on, then we decide the final tracklisting." They nodded and Howie cleared his throat,
"So, what about all the TV shows and performances?" Steve nodded,
"The usual...all three network morning shows, The View, TRL and Leno. Magazine wise it's Teen People, Seventeen, People, Rolling Stone and a couple new magazines. You guys will also do a Diary for MTV and a countdown special for VH1...its like the Top 50 ballads of all time or something like that." He looked across the table and nodded, that was John's, the record label executive cue. He stood up,
"Ok, since the Around The World Tour was so successful with worldwide sales we want to do that again." He waited for the groans to subside, working with them hadn't been on his top ten wish list, they were becoming more and more difficult to control,
"Alright, it's not that bad. It will be longer but we're going to split you up. One group will go to Europe, Australia and Asia; the other does Europe, South Africa and South America. You'll go to more than one country and possibly even more than one city in some countries; that's why you will share Europe." Brian shook his head,
"Ok, how long will this last?" John looked at his schedule,
"It will last for about a week and a half, so you will get a lot more rest than you did last time, it won't be so bad." Kevin sighed,
"When are we supposed to do all these interviews and TV specials?" John looked over at Steve,
"The VH1 special won't take long. That's just an hour or so of taping, you're just taping what you say between the videos playing. They'll show ten videos per one hour episode. The CD is released in two and a half months, exactly two months after the single release. It will all be ok. By the time the CD is released all you'll be doing is TV appearances and performances...for the most part" Howie looked over the schedule,
"What all are we doing for the single promotion?" Steve looked up at the ceiling,
"Everything I mentioned before. It's promotion for the single, which is promotion for the CD. John will tell you what you are doing for the CD promo." Nick looked over at John,
"Yeah, cause I want to know about this around the world thing, and I do not want to be in the group that goes to Rio." John sighed and rolled his eyes,
"Well, who does? You guys will do this three and a half weeks before the CD is released. Then two weeks before the CD release you have the US blitz. TV, radio, that's when your interview articles start coming out, MTV Diary will follow you around during this time and you'll do in-stores in major cities. Alright as far as Europe the cities you're going to are London, Paris, Frankfurt, Berlin, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid and somewhere in Belgium we haven't decided where exactly there are some issues with that. That's five cities a piece, each group will have one city in Germany." He looked around and waited for someone to say something, when no one did he continued,
"You'll do radio and TV, there are no performances and while you're traveling you'll do print promo." AJ looked over his shades,
"How long in each place?" John circled something on his paper,
"Two to three days in Europe, then off to the next place. For instance London, Paris, Stockholm, Begium and Frankfurt is one group. You might do radio and TV that morning in London and radio and TV that night in Paris. The next day or maybe day and a half you get the other three cities. It won't be that bad. It's not all done, so you'll get your info on the flight over. All we know now is the cities. Ok, you guys should just concentrate on what you have for the next three weeks or so. This won't happen for another five weeks." They all looked around at each other, Kevin looked like he was trying to change the schedule, Howie looking like he was trying to figure it out and Brian like he wanted to rip it all up. He wished he had on shades like AJ who looked like he was asleep. His thoughts were interrupted as Steve spoke up,
"Nick, you need to go back to New York in a couple of days to record that song with Scott for the movie soundtrack and Howie there is an offer for you to shoot an episode of a WB show, you play a music teacher at a high school, here's the script." He slid a folder across the table at a smiling Howie as AJ called out,
"Woo hoo D. Mr TV star, don't get too big and leave us little people."
