| Chapter 79 Nick was in his hotel room with the stylist and one of his PR representatives getting ready for Chloe's movie premiere; Chloe in the room next door doing the same. He sat in the chair and waited as they decided to change the color of his shirt at the last minute, which seemed to cause much more trouble than it should, "No, I didn't realize how blue his eyes were until I saw him in person. He definitely needs to wear the blue shirt. It will bring out his eyes, it will be absolutely beautiful." He sighed shaking his head and rolling his eyes at it all, thinking about his conversation with Shayna days before. "So Nick, how many times did you cheat on me?" His head shot up and there was something about the look in her eyes that let him know she knew. He shook his head, "Shayna, I didn't cheat-" She threw up her hands, "Please don't lie to me." He sighed, "You're going to believe some stupid girls on the radio?" He ran his hands through his hair and stood up, "Come on Nick, just tell me. I mean, I already knew, in a way. I'm not completely stupid but I never had proof. I just need to hear you admit, I don't know why but I do." He turned quickly to look at her and began to yell, "Fine, what do you want to hear? That I cheated on you a lot? That everyone knew it, the guys, security, dancers..they all saw me with other girls and never said anything to you when you came out on the road? You want to hear that I don't know how many times I cheated on you? Because I don't. That sometimes I didn't even feel bad about it?" She stood there, her mouth open as she listened to him, "You don't even feel bad about it now. The way you're saying it to me like you don't care that you hurt me." He sighed and threw up his hands, "I don't want to hurt you that's why I didn't tell you." She frowned as she wiped away the tears, "If you didn't want to hurt me you wouldn't have done it. If you loved me you wouldn't have." He shook his head and rolled his eyes as he walked towards the door, "Don't do that, don't say I didn't love you. It's not that simple...oh, you didn't love me that's why you cheated...you can love someone and still do some fucked up shit. Sometimes one has nothing to do with the other." "Nick...Nick." He shook his head and looked up to see everyone looking at him, "We just need to do make-up and you'll be ready for wardrobe." He nodded and sat in the chair over by the sliding glass door that led to the balcony. His make-up artist for the day, Martin, was from Brazil and very expressive, "Ok, it won't take that long. I love the hair." Nick smiled in appreciation as Martin ran a wet soapy cloth over his face. He liked his hair too, it was spiky and the secret to making it looked like a "controlled mess" as Helene, the hair stylist said, was not gel but wax. Martin finished and inspected Nick's face like he was looking at a mastrpiece, "Ah, beautiful. If you ever need me let me know, you have a nice face." he said as he ran his hand over Nick's cheek, "Thanks." There was a knock on the door and he was greeted by Chloe, her manager and her PR representative, "Hey you, wow you look hot!" He smiled as he looked down at himself. He was wearing gray pants and a light blue shirt under his black leather coat with his black shoes. They insisted he wear a Rolex that was borrowed specifically for the event and a pair of gold wire-rimmed glasses, "Thanks, you look...wow...you look beautiful." A slight blush rose on his cheeks and she smiled as the group ushered them along. She was beautiful with her hair pulled back off her face and a soft blue dress with a a low neckline, her back was completely out and the dress flowed just above her knees. They sat in the limo with her manager and PR along with his PR, "So Nick, are you guys putting out an album soon?" He looked over at her, surprised she even cared, "Yeah, our first single drops in about two months." Her manager looked over, "Didn't you guys just put out an album?" Nick smiled as he thought about it, "Uh, we put out our last album like a year and a half ago." He nodded absently and went back to talking to Chloe's PR woman. She leaned into him, "You really do look nice. You look totally different from when I saw you last week in the T-shirt and baggy jeans that were about to fall off." He smiled and looked down, he had never got a compliment from a woman so beautiful, "Thanks." She smiled, "You don't take compliments well do you?" He shook his head, "You should be used to it, all the girls screaming for you, all the women wanting to be with you." His eyes widened slightly, "That's different, they're fans. It's different with real women. I'm Nick Carter to them, they like what they see on TV. No matter how many times they say they know I'm not perfect, they think it." She nodded, "I can understand some of that. You ever dated a celebrity?" He shook his head, "Not really. I dated someone who became a celebrity after we broke up but she wasn't when we dated." She seemed interested and couldn't believe he was sitting next to someone he watched in the movies. He would never get used to feeling he was a star like the people he saw, "Really? Who? If you don't mind me asking?" He shook his head but his stomach was a little uneasy at having to talk about it, "Willa Ford." Her face frowned and she shook her head, "That song I Wanna Be Bad." She nodded and her eyes stretched in recognition, "Oh, I liked that song. It was catchy." He nodded hoping the subject would drop, "You ever think of dating a celebrity? At least she'll know what you're going through." He shrugged, "I'm not saying I wouldn't but I just don't want someone who acts all Hollywood and gets carried away with that lifestyle." She nodded, "I hear you on that one." Home Full Circle Chapter 79a |
