Chapter 65

They were sitting around the studio when Brian called out,
"So Nick when does Lexi get here so we can meet her?"  Nick looked over at him and shook his head,
"You mean so YOU can meet her?  And she'll get here after she leaves work."  Brian smiled,
"Kevin and Howie haven't met her either."  Nick frowned,
"How did you know she was coming?  And how did you know AJ had met-"  He stopped and looked over at AJ,
"What did you do?  Call as soon as you got home?"  AJ snatched off his shades and pretended to be offended,
"Of course not."  Brian laughed,
"He called me on his cell when you guys separated at the airport."  Nick joined in as they laughed.  Kevin stood up and shook his head,
"You know AJ can't keep a secret."  The ringing of Howie's cell phone broke the sudden silence and Nick stood up,
"I'm going to the bathroom."  AJ chimed,
"So, what you telling us for?  Need someone to go with you?"  Nick continued to walk out of the room as he flicked him off, just as the door closed his cell phone rang,
"Let me get that...see which area code is calling Nick this time."  Kevin called out,
"It's someone from here, of course trying to hook up because she found out he's in town."  Brian nodded in agreement and AJ nodded as he looked at Nick's phone,
"Yep, you guys are right; from here.  But it's his number one girl.  Hello?"  Lexi strained to recognize the voice,
"Hi, Nick?"  AJ propped his feet on the table,
"He's on the toilet.  Hey girl, its AJ."  Kevin and Brian shook their heads at his comment, knowing Nick would want to kill him for saying that.
"So what's up, you coming right?...Where are you right now?"  They listened as AJ gave her directions,
"Sure, you got that? Ok, since you are in the parking lot...how about bringing us something to eat?"  He laughed and looked over at the guys,
"She just happened to pull into a McDonald's...what do you guys want?"  They groaned but gave their orders.
"He's your man, shouldn't you know what he eats?"  He laughed,
"Oooh nasty!  I don't think they serve that at Mickey D's."  He laughed again and hung up the phone, just as he placed the phone back on the chair Nick walked back in,
"Where have you been?  Fell in?"  Nick rolled his eyes,
"No dumbass, I was talking to this new chick that was recording down the hall.  She was just signed, she's recording her debut album."  Howie called out,
"Lexi-"  AJ interrupted him,
"Will probably be here soon so why don't we try and get this last part down so when she gets here we can chill for a while."  They looked at AJ and shook their heads as Nick made his way back into the sound booth.

Nick watched as the door opened and watched the security guard, followed by Lexi wearing what he liked to call one of her Melrose Place suits because they were business like but short enough to be sexy, walk into the studio.  Both their hands full of McDonalds.  He went to take off his headphones but was stopped by Kevin,
"Don't even think about it.  Keep your butt in there, you have one more line to get right."  Nick sighed and rolled his eyes,
"Well, let's getting going then."  He watched as AJ introduced her to Howie and Brian, he wanted to do that.  He loved having a smart girl who was with him.  After being with Shayna and now Lexi there was no way he could date a girl that he wasn't proud to show off to everyone.

They were all sitting around eating, Lexi next to Nick, when Kevin decided to become paternal,
"So Lexi, tell us about yourself."  Nick looked at him as if warning him but Kevin didn't seem to care,
"What do you want to know?  Professional, personal, birth up to now, the last year?"  Brian shrugged,
"The basics, sisters, brothers, where were you born?  What do you do?"  She nodded as she wiped her hands,
"Ok, I was born in France.  My mother is French, my dad is American.  He worked in the Paris office of his company and that's how they met.  We moved to New York and my younger sister Katherine and I grew up in Manhattan until I was 12 then we moved to LA.  I graduated from Stanford with a business degree and my sister is an Art History major at NYU."  Nick was in the middle of eating his burger,
"Anything else you want to know?"  Kevin looked at him in disgust,
"Yes, how you can be twenty-two and have the table manners of a four year old."  It was evident he was pissed at Kevin and simply mumbled,
"Whatever."  Howie looked over at her,
"Wow, cool.  Your parents still live in LA?"  She shook her head,
"No, when I was 15 my dad took over his own company and his headquarters is in New York."  Brian nodded,
"What does your dad do?"  She smiled,
"He owns a lot of different businesses.  Real estate, construction, blah, blah, blah.  Its all diversified."  Kevin cleared his throat,
"So, you work for one of your dad's companies then."  She simply stated,
"No."  Nick made eye contact with AJ and AJ shrugged and shook his head as if telling him he knows how Kevin can be sometimes,
"Man, she speaks French, Italian...what else?"  Nick piped in,
"Portuguese and Spanish."  Howie smiled,
"Wow, that's amazing."  Nick prayed he wouldn't start practicing his Spanish on her,
"Hey, we're going bowling tomorrow night, you and Nick should come."  Nick slowly shook his head,
"I don't know."  She pulled on his arm and smiled like a little girl,
"Oh come on Nick.  It'll be fun.  You can teach me how to bowl."  He was wrapped around her finger and smiled,
"Ok."  Everyone was discussing the plans, no one noticing Kevin looking at Lexi with a strange look on his face.
