Nick rushed onto the plane that evening and once his carry-on was secure he flopped in his seat with a sigh of relief as he lay his head back and closed his eyes,
"Late as usual, you just made it." Nick frowned slightly at the comment and turned his head to see AJ smiling at him,
"Yo man, what the hell are you doing here? I thought you were in LA." AJ nodded,
"I was, I came out to see my mom and take care of something. If you stayed in touch more often...Guess they didn't tell you we had the same flight huh?" Nick shook his head,
"Nah, but I'm sure you knew that." He looked over and shook his head as AJ smiled and shrugged his shoulders. They sat quietly and pretended to be attentive as the flight attendant went through the usual safety and emergency procedures. The lights dimmed as the flight attendant came by,
"Would you like something to drink?" she asked as she smiled at AJ,
"Uh yeah let me get a Mountain Dew please." She nodded as she then gave her attention to Nick and her smile seemed to brighten,
"And what can I get you?" He looked up and pretended to be deep in thought,
"Um, I don't know. What do you suggest?" She smiled,
"Beer?" He shook his head,
"No alcohol. Why don't you surprise me." She raised an eyebrow and smiled seductively,
"My pleasure." and with the wink of an eye she disappeared. He looked over to see AJ shaking his head,
"What?" AJ laughed,
"You don't even have to try sometimes." Nick laughed,
"I learned it from you. Besides, that's one of the few times I didn't mess up. You know me." He watched as AJ looked at him a continued to shake his head,
"What's wrong?" AJ shook his head as if he was clearing the thoughts away,
"How are you and Shayna?" Nick sighed heavily,
"Look, I know how you and Kevin feel about it ok? Besides, we're over for good. I don't want to talk about it." AJ turned towards him,
"OK, but let me say this. Maybe we were a little harsh about Shayna. She's cool, we know she's not like that." The flight attendant arrived with their drinks,
"Here is your Mountain Dew...and a here you go." Nick took a sip and smiled as he looked at the drink with fresh fruit on the rim,
"That's good....what is it?" She smiled,
"Secret recipe." She leaned down until her face was next to his and placed her hand on his shoulder,
"Anything else I can do for you just let me know...I'm Jamie." He nodded and watched as she walked away,
"Hey, um Jamie." She turned,
"Nice perfume, I like it." She smiled and walked off. He looked over at AJ to see a look of surprise,
"You're getting good at that shit." He laughed,
"I'm trying." He looked around the cabin and back over at AJ once he felt him hit his arm,
"Why don't you get her number. That's a sure thing." Nick's smile faded quickly as he thought about his relationship with Shayna, her relationship with that asshole, how he wanted to help her and last but not least Lexi,
"I already have enough to deal with."
"Hmmm, that's mature of you." Nick rolled his eyes, laughed and sighed as he closed his eyes and lay his head back,
"Not really, just too many to keep track of as it is."
