New York, it has a great nightlife and there was always something to do but it was just so busy and so�hell, he didn�t know, he just didn�t love it like others did. Thankfully, he and AJ were only going to be recording here for a few days. They were sitting in AJ�s room after a long session and they were both exhausted but AJ seemed to be less drained than Nick,
�What the hell are you so happy about?� AJ looked over,
�I�m getting married man.� Nick sat up straight,
�What? You? You�re kidding.� AJ laughed,
�Nope, I�m serious. Well, I haven�t asked her yet but I know she�ll say yes.� Nick slouched in his chair and shook his head as AJ asked,
�What?� Nick rolled his eyes,
�I thought you of all people wouldn�t think of getting married so young. What happened to all the women and doing what you wanted?� AJ shrugged,
�I don�t want that. What I have with Sarah is more than that. Dude, at the end of the day that party shit doesn�t make you happy. Its empty.� He watched Nick shake his head and he went on,
�You telling me you�re the happiest now you�ve ever been?� Nick looked over at him,
�Yeah, doing what I want, when I want and not having to worry about someone else.� AJ shook his head and stood up,
�That�s fun for a while, that�s temporary, everyone enjoys it for a while but its not real. Don�t tell me you don�t lay in bed at night and miss Shayna.� Nick answered quickly, too quickly,
�NO!� AJ knew the truth, they both did. He watched as AJ poured a glass of water and threw him a bottle of water,
�Nick, Shayna was a�is a good girl-� Nick threw his hands in the air,
�Why does everyone keep saying that like I�m the bad guy?� AJ sighed,
�What everyone is saying is that she is worth holding on to; and quit the everyone is ganging up on me shit you�re too old for it.� Nick just sat there and AJ sat down next to him,
�Look kiddo, you�ve never said what happened with you and Shayna. Did she catch you cheating?� Nick looked at AJ but there was no use getting mad at him, the fact of the matter was he did cheat, on a regular basis, and they all knew it. He just looked down and shook his head.
�Well, what was it?� Nick sat there and thought but he couldn�t really think of anything.
�Don�t tell me you just grew apart? I never understand when people say that.�
�I don�t know, I just felt like she was becoming needy and needed too much attention. She said she was just interested in what I was doing. But dude, she used to have her own stuff then it was like she didn�t do anything without me unless I wasn�t in town.� AJ nodded,
�It�s an adjustment Nick, they don�t get to spend a lot of time with us and when they do they want it all, that�s understandable. Did you tell her that, tell her how you felt?� He sighed,
�I tried to but we started arguing and before you know it we broke up.� AJ sat up and frowned,
�What? You telling me you two decided to end it during a fight?� Nick looked over at him annoyed,
�Well people usually don�t break up in the middle of sex now do they?� AJ laughed,
�Yeah ok true but you guys were just mad at each other. What did she say when you told her you felt she needed too much attention?� He rolled his eyes and laughed wryly,
�She didn�t see it that way; she just saw it as wanting to spend time with me when we were on vaca-� AJ looked over at him with eyebrows raised,
�Is that so bad? You have to give in a relationship too Nick. Overall you don�t spend that much time with her so why does it seem like so much to you? Everything is perspective.� Nick looked over at him and AJ laughed,
�It�s all how you see things in your eyes. People see things differently, she may very well have not known you considered it needy that she wanted to spend more time with you. You should talk it out and try not to take things personally, like you usually do, when she says something you don�t like.� Nick stood up,
�Yeah well congratulations on your maybe wedding. I�m going to go lay down.�
Nick lay in bed and thought about what AJ said. There were many times that he lay in bed and wished he wasn�t alone, wished she was there to rub his back, feed him strawberries like she would do sometimes, he smiled, she always tried to make him feel like he was special. No one had ever spoiled him like that before. He missed tickling her, bugging her when she was trying to work, watching her try to figure something out and get that confused look on her face. He closed his eyes,
�Maybe we should be together, there wasn�t anything wrong that we couldn�t fix.� Funny, he thought, he went his life up until then always looking for someone to have that great relationship with and he had her and let her get away before he even knew it.
