| Chapter 15 It had been a week and a half since Nick had been in LA and there were days that she couldnt help but wish he would call. She sat on her balcony tossing the phone back and forth between her hands. She wanted to call and talk to him so bad, but what the hell for. When was this going to be over? When would she be able to stop thinking about him this way and move on with her life? She took a deep breath and called his cell phone, Hello? Amazing, he hardly ever answers his phone. She was hoping that he wouldnt pick up and she would leave a message, Hi, its Shayna. She heard him sigh; what was that about? Was she bothering him? All of a sudden she felt like crap. Hey. Thanks Nick, dont make it easy or anything, I was just calling to see how you were doing. Im alright. Silence, she felt like a desperate girl chasing after a guy. She definitely regretted calling him. I didnt mean to bother you. You sound busy, so, maybe Ill talk to you later. Throughout the short conversation his voice never had any emotion and it seemed to have even less as he ended the call, Uh-huh. He didnt wait for her to say anything; all she heard was a click. She felt so stupid, she sat there and she didnt want to but she cried. She was so tired of feeling like an idiot. She was sitting at work the next morning when her co-worker called over to her, Shayna, theres a customer that wants to know if he could get a quick class on the software. She looked over, Is there an open trouble ticket? Yeah. She sighed, Alright, is that him on the phone? She nodded and Shayna continued, Tell him Ill be right over. She waked into the office and found her customer waiting at the secretarys desk for her. The first thing she noticed was how handsome he was as he stuck out his hand, Hi, you must be Shayna. She smiled and shook his hand, Yes sir. He smiled, Call me Bill. She nodded and followed him to his office. He was new, had only been here for three months and they talked about his previous location. Throughout the fifteen-minute class they talked about sports. It always amazed her that guys were impressed that she loved sports, she never understood what the big deal was; but all guys insisted it was rare to find a woman who not only knew the rules but also liked watching sports. As she was walking out the door he called out to her, We should get together for lunch one day or maybe go catch a game. She smiled, That would be fine. As she sat in her office she couldnt help but think about Bill, she flirted with him but even when she dated Nick she flirted with the men in the building. It was just friendly and it meant nothing, it was fun to her. Maybe because she felt it was safe ground because once she left her office, she hardly ever flirted with men she didnt really know anything about. It could be fun, she thought, as she sat at her computer, he was more of what she was used to being attracted to than Nick. He was older and she had always had a thing for older men. No way, she thought, this was something she wasnt ready for. Wasnt there like a certain time frame, a grieving period, wasnt she supposed to get to know herself and figure herself out? She sighed as she sat back and stared at her monitor, this sucks, she thought. Home Full Circle Chapter 16 |
