| Chapter 102 cont She nodded and smiled, "Hi. Did you have a good trip?" Was this going to be filled with small talk? He nodded, "Yeah, it was fine." He stared at the huge red rose bud on the front of her tank top that sparkled when the sun hit it just right because of the tiny rhinestones. "When do you have to go back?" Why was he so uncomfortable, they had lived together, they showered together, she knew everything about him, "I got a few days." She walked over and grabbed his hand, leading him away, "Come on, let's go for a walk." They walked along the edge of the lawn, the view of the ocean was breathtaking. It was like something out of a movie. He looked over at her and caught her looking at him. She held onto his hand causing him to stop, then she stood before him, taking both of his hands in her own, "I did not sleep with Craig." He looked out towards the water. Deep down he knew that, common sense told him that a long time ago, "I know." She frowned slightly and licked her lips, "What do you mean you know? You were so mad a few days ago." He nodded and sighed, "I know, I was being stupid. I know-" He stopped abruptly, "Did anything happen?" She took a deep breath, "Yeah, a long time ago." He nodded his head slowly, this was what he was waiting on. He was going to tell her he knew they kissed but he wanted to see if she would owe up to it, "I'm waiting." She took a deep breath, this wasn't easy for her but he had to be the one to step up to the plate all the time in the past. In fact, he couldn't remember a time where she messed up and had to take the plunge and pray to be forgiven like he did, "When your friend was visiting. Lexi. Craig came over to watch the game. I was upset about that night and us being apart and I kissed him." She grabbed his hands tighter, as if he was going to walk away. He had no intentions of doing so, it made his stomach upset but he wanted to know, as weird as that may seem, "Then what happened?" She shook her head quickly, "Nothing, it was all me. If you're going to be mad at anyone its me not Craig. He stopped it. He's your friend Nick, he misses you. It really hurt him when you ignored him. He went all that way to try and work it out with you and you wouldn't even talk to him." He knew the silent treatment he gave his best friend was a nasty thing to do and on top of all that, he attacked him. "So if he didn't stop it you would have slept with him." She looked down and he wanted to cry, how could she do that. Want to be with someone else, and one of his friends on top of it all. "That's not a fair question. I don't know for sure what would have happened." Fair enough, you never do until its already happened, he learned that a long time ago. "So you're not with that guy anymore are you?" She shook her head, "No, he's temporarily assigned to another office. It's in Omaha, he'll be there for a few months, getting it together. I told him right before he left I didn't want to see him anymore." At least she was finished with that nightmare, "So, what are you doing here?" She laughed, "Well you know Jane and I think alike sometimes." He groaned, "Yeah unfortunately." She giggled, "She called and I was telling her how much I miss you and she invited me for a few days. To get away. I didn't know until I was here that you would be here." His mother, there was no need to try and figure it all out anymore, he might as well just go with the flow. There were fights that just weren't worth fighting with her. He learned to pick and choose his battles. He pulled her and they walked down towards the dock, "Wanna go out on the boat?" She nodded, "Yeah." Home Full Circle Chapter 103 |
