| Chapter 103 She walked back in the house with Nick, hand in hand, to see Bob and Jane on the couch watching television. She smiled at the smile that appeared on Jane's face when she saw her hand in Nick's, "We already ate but there are two plates in the oven for you two." Nick went into the kitchen and she walked over and sat in a chair, "So did you two have a nice time?" It was a nice time actually, they didn't talk about their past, they didn't talk about what went wrong. They spent their time catching up on each other's lives, music, movies and celebrities. She saw him out and about with Chloe Grant and he told her it was nothing, not that she questioned him about it. She knew Nick could be around girls and not be with them romantically, it was rare, but it was possible, "Yeah, we took the boat out. Sorry we missed dinner." Jane shook her head, "It's fine, I'm just glad you guys are ok." Bob looked away from the TV for the first time, "Are you guys back together?" She shook her head and smiled, "No, we're just friends again. After the past few weeks I'm happy with that. We weren't talking for a while." She watched as Bob nodded and went back to watching TV and her smiled broadened. She remembered Nick telling her when they first started dating tha the Carter women were all aggressive and take charge type people and it worked out because all the Carter men were laid back and passive. They just followed behind the women. She saw it so many times, with Jane and Nick, Jane and Bob, Angel and Aaron. The Carter women definitely had a hold on their men. Aaron was the only one who wasn't under Jane's control but he was busy with Angel and BJ. Leslie was dominant in the silent manner, but she definitely put in her two cents. And when she wanted attention, she knew how to get it. Nick walked out with a plate and a glass of what seemed to be tea. He flopped down on the couch beside his dad and Jane looked over at him, "Nick, go get Shayna's plate. You're so rude, I didn't raise you that way." He frowned and with a mouth full of food let her know, "She knows where the kitchen is. She's not a guest." He looked over at me and frowned, "Do you want me to get your food?" The look he gave me made me think he would throw that fork at me if I said yes, "No, I'm ok, I'll eat in a minute." He looked over at him mom, "See?" and rolled his eyes as he turned his attention to the TV. She could only laugh and shake her head at Jane who was still a little ticked off by her son's manners, or lack thereof, "Where are the kids?" It was awfully quiet, something their household was not accustomed to, "Aaron and Angel are over at friends. BJ and Leslie went out." Nick kept watching TV and eating, not bothering to look at his mom as he asked, "You just let BJ go out with Leslie? Where did they go?" Jane shrugged, "I don't know." Nick simply shook his head, "So, which one of you is gonna pick her up from the police station cause I'm not? She's needs to get her crap together." Shayna diverted her attention to the TV, she knew Nick adored BJ but the girl frustrated him on a regular basis. He wanted to help her, do anything he could for her but she just wouldn't make the first move. He decided it was her life and when she was ready he would be there until then he wasn't going to stress over her, "She'll be fine Nick. Leave it alone." They sat around watching TV, Nick and his parents occassionally talking about his plans for the next year or two, which was how long he had to invest in this latest album.
