Chapter 6

"I can't sleep baby."  He looked over to see her drifiting off as they watched Speed for the second time since the tour had started.  It was one of the few movies that she would agree to watch with him.  He nudged her,
"Come on Shay, wake up."  She sighed,
"Nick, I'm sleepy."  He groaned,
"You slept in this morning and I was the one dancing and singing around for two hours while you just sat there and I'm wide awake."  She sighed,
"And you're on an adrenaline high."  He couldn't sleep and he hated to be up by himself,
"You should be too, you were at the concert.  I guarantee you those girls who were in the audience are on one too."  She mumbled,
"And they don't see you everyday like I do."  What was that supposed to mean?  Did she not get excited to see him perform?  He didn't need his girlfriend screaming her head off and passing out but she should be excited about him doing what he loved.  Shouldn't she?  Shouldn't watching him perform put a smile on her face just because she knew he was doing what he loved?
"What's that supposed to mean?"  She sighed,
"Nothing Nick, nothing."  She sat up and crawled over to him,
"What do you want to do?"  She began to kiss on his neck and rub her hand over his chest.  He pushed her hand away,
"Don't."  She frowned,
"What's wrong with you?"  He hated when she did that.  When she thought she could distract him from whatever it was that she had done to piss him off by throwing sex in his face.
"Nothing, can you just give me some space?"  He didn't know why he was picking a fight but he was just irritated with her now.  Even she was trying to play him like he was simple and easily manipulated.  She stood up and he grunted,
"I can't believe you wore that."  She turned around,
"What is the big deal with what I'm wearing Nick?"  He watched her look down and examine what she was wearing,
"Nothing, you said you didn't want the fans to know just yet that you were on tour remember?  Remember we talked about that?"  She sighed,
"Yes, but what does my outfit have to do with that?"  He shrugged,
"You think that tight little top isn't going to bring attention to you?  I've been out with my sisters and when they see a girl wearing a certain outfit they notice her.  You think no one saw you and didn't give you a second look?  If nothing else, they were thinking you were trying to get our attention.  You were with Kristin and you were sitting up front, I'm sure they noticed the half-dressed blonde sitting with Kevin's wife."  She sighed,
"Well, what am I supposed to do?  Hide in one of the trunks and ride in one of the trucks?"  He shook his head,
"Hey you're the one who didn't want to be noticed so don't yell at me."  She was about to say something but she took a deep breath and nodded,
"You're right, I'm sorry."  He wanted to ask her to repeat herself.  She never gave in on an argument that fast.  When they did fight, their little squabbles generally lasted alot longer than they needed to and resulted in one of them having to suck it up and kiss a little ass. He didn't know what to say, he was just so thrown off by her apology,
"Forget it."  She walked over and pulled out a bottle of apple juice,
"So, I'm going to get to see what a tour is like.  Can't wait to see all the chicks the Backstreet Boys pull in, especially you Mr. Hot Stuff."  Was she trying to keep fighting with him?
"I don't pull in girls."  She stopped drinking and looked at him,
"Nick, please.  More girls want you than any of the other guys."  He wasn't going to go there with her,
"Whatever Shay."  He thought she dropped it but she kept going,
"I mean, when you and I first started dating you had many girls you were juggling right?"  Yeah, it was true that she wasn't the only one he was with before she moved in with him and even though it was long ago, she couldn't handle it.  She couldn't just leave it in the past,
"Come on Nick, admit it.  It won't bother me."  That's exactly what it will do, he thought.  Girls can't leave the past in the past, she would use it against him for whatever happens now and in the future,
"There is nothing to admit.  Ever since I met you it was just you.  Why would I move you in if I had all these other girls?"  She shook her head,
"I don't know Nick.  Why was I the one you chose to move in with you?"  He sighed,
"You were the only one Shayna.  Why are you doing this?  Why are we even talking about what happened like three years ago?  This is insane."  He licked his lips and shook his head,
"Please, please don't do this." He held his head down,
"I don't want to argue with you."  He looked up at her with tears in his eyes and she rushed over and hugged him,
"I'm sorry, I'm being stupid."  She ran her hands up and down his back and sighed as he held her tight,
"It's ok baby."  He pulled her back and she wiped the tears from his face,
"Sorry."  she whispered and he nodded,
"I know."  He looked over at the TV and smiled,
"You would look good in one of those."  She turned and looked at the television screen,
"One of what?"
"A police uniform but only if the top was tighter and a tight short skirt."  She laughed,
"Oh yeah babe, people would really take a female cop seriously if she looked like a hooker."  He shrugged,
"I would do what she said."  She laughed,
"That's because you are a freak."  He shrugged,
"What is wrong with that?  You are too, just need me to bring it out of you sometimes."  He smiled as she looked down and seemed to be embarrassed by his comment.  He remembered how uptight she was about sex.  At first, it was fun for him.  It seemed like it was all new to her and he really got off on doing things to her and with her that she had never done before. Her reaction, her moans, her fear, his ability to soothe her and let her know that she could trust him, it all made him feel like a real man, as strange as that may sound.  After a while though, it became a strain and a frustration.  She was scared to do certain things, didn't want to be wild and adventurous and pretty soon he was cheating on her on a regular basis to get what he wanted.  By the time she became completely comfortable he had been cheating so much it was like he didn't really have a girlfriend and it was like a routine he didn't feel the need to break.  She groaned and shook her head,
"I'm gonna take a shower."  He nodded as she walked away and wiped the remaining tears from his eyes.  Crying on cue was a talent that had come in handy with many girls.  It always got him out of sticky situations he didn't want to deal with or know how to get out of.   He smiled and shook his head, the things that little gift had gotten him out of was amazing.  What was even more amazing was that a few tears could actually get him sex too.  Girls were suckers for a sensitive guy, once they saw a guy become emotional something happened with them and their guard was totally knocked down and they forgot that they were trying to play hard to get.  Shayna caught his attention as she walked towards the shower naked,
"Hey, come out just like that and meet me in bed."  She shook her head,
"Sex, is that all you think about?"  He frowned,
"When a naked girl is standing in front of me?  Yes, yes it is."  She smiled and rolled her eyes,
"Whatever."
