Chapter 13
She opened her eyes and looked at the ceiling. Her mouth formed a smile she didn't know she had in her at that moment as she remembered Nick's invitation to attend a movie premiere. It was hard to believe that she had been with Nick for three years and she had never met a celebrity besides some of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That was only because he sang the National Anthem at a home game and she went to the game with him. She was a sports kind of girl but football wasn't exactly her favorite. Now hockey, that was a real sport but she went because of the reason she did most things, to be with Nick. Sporting events were totally different from a movie premiere with big time celebrities. What was she going to wear? What kind of makeup should she wear? What about her hair? There were so many things to think about but it was all too soon. No, it wasn't too soon. He said a couple of weeks! That would give her time to lose about seven pounds if she stuck to a strict diet and worked out every day. She didn't want people thinking there was a reason Nick never showed his girl off in public. She wanted to make him proud. She wanted him to pull her into every shot in front of every camera from the time they stepped out of the limo until the time their night was over. She felt his warm leg on her foot and positioned herself until her back was against his chest and her butt was firmly in his groin. She heard him suck in air, "Ah Shayna! Your feet!" She smiled for momentarily before she remembered the foul mood he had been in over the past couple of days. She held her breath as she waited for his overreaction. She continued to hold her breath, wondering if he were trying to think up something rude he hadn't said. Pretty soon she was going to be red in the face. Instead he took her by surprise as his hand slid up her thigh and his breath warmed her ear, "Good morning." She smiled, "Good morning." He pulled on her shoulder and she followed his lead, turning over on her back and turning her head to look at him, "What are you going to do today?" She hadn't really planned anything beyond working out, going through fashion magazines and saying goodbye to Kristin. Today was a concert day for him and she knew he didn't like to really do anything he didn't have to do, "Nothing really big. I want to go down to the gym. I haven't worked out since I've been on tour. Why? What's up?" She looked at him wondering what was going to come out of his mouth next, "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me today. I wanted to go shopping now that I feel better." She smiled at him. That was all she wanted was to spend time with him and want him to want her to be there, by his side, whether it was walking the red carpet or buying a new pair of sneakers. She ran her fingers through his hair, "I would love to go shopping with you." She wanted to do everything with him including walk down the aisle but she knew that wouldn't happen anytime soon. She loved being with Nick and she loved that she has been lucky enough to be apart of his life but sometimes she wished she had met him later in life, when he was ready to settle down and be someone's husband. She wanted to wait but a small voice in her head told her she was being stupid but she didn't want to be the set up person. She didn't want to be the one that made him a better man, the one who he experienced life with, the one that prepared him to put a ring on some other woman's finger. So, if it took three more years of them dating then she was willing. Hell, Kristin and Kevin took forever to finally get married but she didn't do what Kristin did and what she herself had went through not too long ago. She couldn't handle Nick coming in and out of her life while slipping in and out of other girls' beds. "You don't have anything to do?" He rolled on top of her, "Don't worry about all that. I know my schedule." She carefully removed the evidence of his good night's sleep out of the corner of his eye then pulled him down into a kiss. A few years ago not only her somewhat gross hygiene check and the swapping of not so fresh morning saliva would have disgusted her if she saw it being performed in a movie but she and Nick had been together for so long that it just didn't seem to matter. It definitely didn't matter as she felt his tongue swirl around in her mouth. With one kiss this man could single-handedly reverse the course of anything negative. Need somene to end a war? Let Nick slip in the tongue. The even more important war of reigning pop tart between Britney and Christina? Nick's tongue in their mouths would make them forget not only their trivial battle but their careers all together. Hell, she had given up hers to feel that tongue, along with other things, on a daily basis. Suddenly her mouth was empty and she looked up at him. "You are moaning really loud. What's with that?" That smile, it was going to kill her. She placed her hands on his shoulders and gazed into his eyes. They were so luminous, when he was happy they brightened his face and sparkled like diamonds in the sunlight. "I don't know." I could feel his excitement and I could definitely feel my own as the throbbing sensations between my legs began to intensify. Before I could do anything about it he doused my desire, "Come on let's get up." He caught me so off guard I didnt have time to mask the shock, "What?" I shook my head and smiled, "Nothing, it's just this is new. You, telling me to get up." He shrugged and playfully rolled his eyes, "Change isn't bad Shayna." Funny he should say that. Nick hated change unless he was the one that was creating it. He hated not being in control and in a very sophomoric and inarticulate way he once owed it to the lack of control he had in his life from his clothes to the things he was allowed to say due to his career. Everything had to be the way he wanted them. For a slob he was really quite the anal one. The toilet paper always had to be over because it was easier to tear off and somewhere in some vast universe it was a rule that everyone just knew. Believe it or not, all the CDs and DVDs had to be alphabetized. All seven hundred plus CDs and the hundreds of DVDs. He had so many that half of them hadn't been opened. He didn't need to see them but he needed them because they each were a piece to a grand puzzle. He only liked the first of who knows how many installments in the Jason and Freddie horror flicks and thought all those that came after the originals sucked. However, they were apart of a set so he had the entire Nightmare on Elm Street movies and all the Friday the 13th, to include the one where they tried to kill each other. Anal, that was one of the keywords when dealing with Nick. "Are we leaving now?" He nodded his head, "Yeah. Well, I found out about this new local restaurant that serves the best breakfast but it's on the other side of town." The first thing she thought of was privacy. The fans knew where they were staying and if they were on the other side of town that would mean they wouldn't have to deal with them. Maybe it was wrong, maybe even a little selfish but she didn't want to deal with them in any capacity, not after the crap that occurred when she took Nick out for his birthday dinner. He got out of bed and grabbed a pair of jeans off the floor and slid them on. She shook her head, she loved him but she didn't know how he could start the day with no shower. She headed towards the bathroom, "Hurry up Shayna." She turned and looked at him, "Why don't you join me?" He grunted something she couldn't understand before putting on a pair of socks. She rolled her eyes as she closed the bathroom door. God help the person who bought the clothes after he tried them on today. |
