Chapter 12
Dinner was a disaster the last thing he wanted to do was go out to eat, he hardly wanted to leave his room. Not only did they go out but he had to dress up too. But he did it, did it for her because it was his idea to have her on the road and he knew she was trying to make him happy. She walked out of the bathroom with some type of cream on her face, "Did you like your gifts?" Actually he didn't like them much. He had said he wanted to get into the golf thing but that was like a phase and it passed quickly. Actually, he liked everyone else's gifts more than hers; even some of the fans' gifts. One thing that did bother him was that he didn't even get a phone call from anyone in his family. Well, he did get a couple of voice mails but that wasn't the same thing. "Yeah, I loved them." She smiled and disappeared back into the bathroom. He lay back on the bed and closed his eyes. He couldn't explain it; he was just so moody. Sometimes he knew there was nothing she could do to make him happy. Maybe it was just that he was feeling under the weather lately because he was in heaven when she visited him in Fort Lauderdale and it was even better when she finally arrived on tour in Charlotte. He was confident once he was feeling better things between them would get better. There was really nothing she had done to deserve all the attitude he had been giving her as of late. He was a little surprised that she didn't give it back to him. If there was one thing he didn't like about Shayna it was her attitude.
She could give it just as good as anyone. Actually that wasn't the only thing he didn't like about Shayna; her jealousy drove him up the wall. She wouldn't come right out and accuse him but she would ask a lot of questions and hint around. In fact, that was one of the reasons for their breakup; her constant questions about where he was and who he was with, particularly when he was on the road. The first sign her jealous streak reappeared was when she asked him about other girls before she moved in with him. It had been so long since those first months of their relationship that it was almost out of his mind. The girls he cheated on her with were out of his mind. He couldn't remember the name of one of those girls. They weren't important to him, she was and she should know that, he moved her into his house. There was only one other person that he lived with and that was his first love; whether people wanted to believe it was real or not was up to them but she did mean a lot to him. In so many ways Shayna meant more to him than her. The previous relationship was one that was filled with her moving in and out; that didn't happen in this relationship. When Shayna moved out it wasn't some game or strategy it was the real thing. Yes, they had their moments but while they were apart he still watched out for her, tried to protect her. No matter how many other women he was with they were alwyas compared to Shayna. Their breasts, thighs, lips. They way she tossed her hair, the way she would sometimes skip. None of them ever met her to her. It was like she was his number one, she was as good as it got for him. Everyone loved her so much he figured if he couldn't make a relationship work with her he wasn't capable of making one work at all.
He watched her walk out of the bedroom and smiled at her, "Come here." She climbd into the bed, positioned herself on her knees and leaned into him, "Yeah?" Her hair was sitting on top of her head in a ponytail held up with one of those banana clips or whatever she called them. He reached up slowly and her hair fell down, the ends curled, "Your hair is long." He ran his fingers through it all the way down the middle of her back, "Yeah, probably need to cut it." He shook his head, "No, leave it long. I like it." He watched her eyes close as he continued to rake through her hair with his fingers, "Remember that movie I did the song for?" She nodded, her eyes still closed, "Yeah." "The movie premiere is in a couple of week. Do you want to go with me?" Her eyes opened and he knew she was surprised by it. He had never taken her to any public relations event before. She had never gone to an awards show, television appearance or industry party. People knew she existed, he admitted he was in a relationship with someone who was not in the business but he refused to talk about her. There were few pictures of her by the media, the only ones that were out there were when she traveled with him or they were out and about. The only time the media had talked about her by name was after they broke up; before that she never really had a name. His relationship was only mentioned if he was asked if he was still in a relationship. He loved it like that and after they broke up it was hard for him to deal with a highly publicized personal life. His short-lived romance with Lexi, their fight on the beach, his one night stand with the girl he met in a New York nightclub that initiated the fight with Lexi and baseless rumors about Chloe Grant, the actress who was in the movie he did the song for. They were all played out in the glaring eye of the public and it was so uncomfortable. His and Shayna's relationship was so off the Hollywood radar screen that they were separated and she had even moved out of the house for at least six months or so before anyone knew they had broken up. In fact, everyone thought he was cheating on her. That was a major advantage to not living in a big media market, your personal life was pretty much personal, if you don't count the few fans that seemed to find out everything. "You want me to go to the movie premiere with you?" He nodded his head, "Yeah." She frowned slightly from the shock, "You want me to do the red carpet thing and all that?" He smiled, "Yeah." He watched her as she seemed to think it over in her head. He thought she would jump at the chance to go out and be shown off. It never bothered her to be shielded from the spotlight, she didn't want to be a celebrity like his last girlfriend. She didn't need their relationship to be exposed for her own selfish reasons. All she needed was for him to know that she was at home waiting for him. "So you want to go?" She smiled, "Yeah. What am I supposed to wear?" He shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know. Our stylist will figure it out." Suddenly her expression changed, "Do you think everyone will be ok with it? You know, the managers and stuff like that? What about the fans?" He shook his head, "Hey, don't worry about it ok? I'm not going to show you off on some pedestal and as far as the fans are concerned I'm sure you are being talked right now." Actually, he knew it. They've had three years to get to know Shayna. They know what she looks like and she's been with him in every city on this tour; Fort Lauderdale, Charlotte, Atlanta and now Philadelphia. They knew now, they knew that they were back together. They knew now, they knew that they were back together. She smiled as she laid her head on his chest and stretched out comfortably next to him, Ok, Ill go. He could hear her sigh as he rubbed her back. It was going to be a good tour. There was no use in dwelling on the bad in their relationship; it was pointless. They were good together. |
