DERBY

Do you still remember the riots that occurred on the 27th of May 2012 at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium between Jakarta supporters and Bandung supporters? The case is arguably the most horrific violence in the history of rivalry between these two cities led to the death of three supporters. The riot was suspected due to the banning of the Persib fans to enter the stadium by the City Police. Indeed, derby matches in Indonesia's most well-known is the match between Persib Bandung vs Persija Jakarta. They are bitter rivals since the 1930's. The derby between this clubs is one of the hardest derby, most crowded and most legendary in the history of Indonesian football.

Well guys, anyway do you know what derby means? Derby is a match between two clubs from the same region . In every country there must be derby. Derby football match is usually characterized by a tense atmosphere, chaotic, and too crowded.

Examples like one of the hottest derby in England the north london derby that brings Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur. North london derby has been started since 19 november 1887 which was won by tottenham 2-1. The meeting between ‘the gunners' with 'spurs' increasingly continue. 'The gunners' also recorded their first win against spurs on the 4th of november 1909. Both club also faced each other in the league, FA cup, league cup or in the Charity Shield.

As of October 1, 2009 there have been 163 competitive first-class meetings between the two teams since the first league meeting in 1909, of which Arsenal have won 67 and Tottenham 50. The most goals in one game were scored in the closely contested 5-4 Arsenal Premiership victory at White Hart Lane on November 13, 2004. The biggest winning margin was a 6–0 away win by Arsenal on March 6, 1935. Tottenham have twice won 5–0 (December 25, 1911 and April 4, 1983) and Arsenal once, all three fixtures taking place at White Hart Lane.

In anything, there must be the good one and the bad one and it also happen in a derby. the positive impact of the derby is to increase the spirit of football players, increase ticket sales at the stadium, and also, each club will show their best performance because the player have a high motivation. With the rise of the spirit of the football players, they automatically will be motivated to win the game and make the fans happy. But in the other hand, the negative impact of the derby is chaos, the fans from one club are not friendly with the other club, and many more. If the riot occurs in a derby, usually the supporters from each club will be hurt because of the chaos.

In my opinion, Derby is very good to make the atmosphere of a football matches become increasing, to make the players become motivated to win the game. But if we are rival it does not means that we must not greet each other. We still have to know each other, be a good rival that only scare inside stadium and friendly outside the stadium.
