Photos
For your interest, we will add pictures to this collection as Erin
submits them. Because of the tenuous connection to the internet under
the best of conditions, it takes a long time to hook up and the connection
is frequently lost. She persisted and took two hours to upload the latest
ten pictures, so we feel very fortunate to have these. Needless to say,
there is not much high-speed internet service available in Jamaica!

1 - This works manually. Click on the small version of the picture
on the left (thumbnail) to see the larger version on the right. There
are 14 quite large pictures in this slideshow - you need to scroll down
the left hand column to see them all. Apologies to those on dial-up
service because the large images take longer to download - we have preloaded
the pictures on this page to allow for quicker viewing of the slideshow.
Some pictures were taken before the hurricane.

Pictures from our visit
The ones that are green are active links. The active links open a smaller
window that you can adjust by dragging on the handles at the bottom
to see the pictures. Click on the thumbnails along the left - the pictures
that open are quite large. When finished looking at the pictures, click
on the top to close the window.
Stony
Hill Church
Where it all began; the Passionist order has always been in this parish.
Erin's Uncle Mike remembers it from his days in Jamaica as a Passionist
priest. Lucian worked with the pastor, Fr. Gaston, to establish a volunteer
support to the mission parish families, using the philosophy of "accompaniment".
(explained on
PVI website)
Stony
Hill Hotel
This is where the four volunteers and Fr. Lucian live. It is handy to
the community, and has modern conveniences like running water and even
a pool. However, dispense with any North American notions of what a
hotel looks like.
King
Weston Church and School
Each volunteer has one major school/parish and helps out at others.
Erin was assigned to King Weston. The intial role was to tutor students
and teach classes. Erin also began a boy's club at the school, to do
sports, and Sunday School at the church, which was held outside on the
grass.
