| Richard and Kahlan are planning on getting married. But just as they think they have found their peace and quiet, the two of them are separated again. Richard has heavy headaches because he can't control his gift. He now has to join Sister Verna to the Palace of Prophets, where he will learn how to control his power to allow him to live. Richard doesn't want to go, so Kahlan has to tell him that she doesn't love him anymore. Richard's heart breaks, and he accompanies Sister Verna. |
| Kahlan, being both the ruler of the Midlands and the Mother Confessor and having strong powers herself, now has to prevent the Midlands from falling apart. And just when they think it can't get any worse, Richard discovers that the Keeper (ruler of the underworld) wants to set foot into the real world, using a tear in the 'wall' that separates the real world from the underworld. |
