    Happy Spring Everyone!
I was going to say that I have been enjoying the spring weather, but it is snowing outside right now! I hope that spring comes back soon!

This month on Read Across America Day, I took a lot of quizzes on BookAdventure.com and earned over 5,000 points! Gabrielle and I did a lot of reading that day.
This month was also a museum month. My family went to three museums! The first

museum we went to was the Mercer Museum in Doylestown. There was lots of stuff from a long time ago that people used in daily life.. There was an old carriage, fire truck and boat hanging from the ceiling! The second museum we visited was the Allentown Art Museum. I made a fabric collage and had fun at the photography exhibit where you could take pictures of your own still life. I went with my family and my Cub Scout den to the Discovery Center in Bethlehem. My favorite part was the body puzzle. You could take it apart and try to put it back together in the correct order.
Gabrielle and I started growing some seeds indoors under a flourescent light. Our tomatoes are already about 4 inches high! We also have cantaloupe, basil, spinach, lettuce, pumpkins and flowers sprouted! Outside we put our peas, but they haven't sprouted yet.
In homeschool, I am learning about the Temperate Rain Forest and the Pacific Northwest Native American Tribes. I've also been learning about machines in science. In math I've been doing more geometry and still practicing multiplication and division.
One of the coolest things this month was climbing a rock wall at an Outdoor Expo. I made it all the way to the top! It was a 30 foot high wall! My dad took the pictures.

Don't Forget to sign my Guestbook here and let me know what you thought of the March edition.

Here's me on the way up and when I reached the top.
My other fun this month was having a chance to go outside (when it was nice) and learn how to ride a two-wheeler!
Be sure to check out the funny April Fool's Day link in the "Future Fun Stuff" section on this page. It has some good ideas for fooling people. I've also added a page with some of my art work this month. The link is on the left side of this page. I hope you had a great month just like me!

Noticing Spring
This month: Sing Down the Moon
by Scott O'Dell
Walking outside warmer air floats by.
Breathing the smell of fresh green grass.
In a corner, little yellow petals raise up to the sun,
A lone bee buzzes looking for breakfast.
Air is filled with birds chirping.

Huge mountains of snow have melted,
Leaving a green swampy backyard.
Time to put away:
                         boots,
                scarves,
                                  mittens,
                     gloves,
                                                and hats.

Spring is here!
This book tells the story of a Navajo girl who lived in the 1800's. The story tells about her adventures living in Canyon de Chelly, being captured as a slave, and being forced from the land by U.S. Soldiers. Bright Morning is brave and does what she needs to do to stay alive.
Are you interested in the Navajos and what it was like on The Long Walk? Do you want to know what happens to the courageous girl Bright Morning? Then you should read
Sing Down the Moon by Scott O'Dell.

April 1 - April Fool's Day!!
Did you know that April 1st used to be New Year's Day? Back in the 1600's the New Year started in April until Pope Gregory made a new calendar with New Year's Day on January 1st. The people who still celebrated the New Year in April were called fools and had jokes played on them. If you want some good ideas for an April Fool's Joke, check out these at:

April 11 - 13 - National Youth Service Days
Try to get involved and do some kind of volunteer service on one of these days. It can be something simple like weeding or picking up trash in your neighborhood or donating some toys to a shelter. There are also big projects planned across the U.S, To find out more, visit the
Youth Service Day website.

April 22- Earth Day
There are lots of ideas of how to celebrate Earth Day. I am going to be doing some planting and cleaning up outside. There are some good ideas, games and e-cards at the Kidsdomain site:

This site has news articles written for kids. It is a good place to look for current events. There are also games and a place to help you find research information.
Gabrielle's Grab Bag
This month Gabrielle has done all her puzzles at least 100 times! She has two big floor puzzles that she loves. She also has been making up her own jokes, like this one:
Q?: What does an elephant do in the summer?
A: He walks around the woods!
She thinks her jokes are very funny!
Gabrielle has also started going to Dance Class and Tumbling. She is very happy. She does not want mom going in with her because she is a "big girl." Gabrielle has had a great month and I'm sure she's going to have another great month in April.
Gabrielle has her hair in a bun ready for dance class.
Gabrielle in her dance clothes.
