Busy Boy On the Go
Hi! This is coming from Nicholas. I will be writing a newsletter every month as part of my home schooling. It will give you an idea of what I'm doing.
For those who don't know, I have started home schooling since the end of second grade. It's so much fun because I am learning about lots of things that I'm interested in.
So far, my summer has been really busy. At the end of June we went to Notre Dame. It was really cool. You could serve yourself at meals and we got to sleep in a Dorm room. After that we went to Grandma Gerry's in Calumet City, Illinois, near Chicago.
I played with my cousins, Courtney, Trevor, Brayden and Breanna. I slept over at their house one night. We also went to see horses race for my mom's Reunion. The horses went really fast and I got to stand at the railing.
We spent a whole day at the Museum of Science and Industry. We saw a lot of things
like old mail trains, the heart, a rocket car, the whispering room and airplanes. My favorite place was in the Coal Mine. We got to ride on a train that used to carry coal. We also learned that a coal mine is dangerous!
When we got home, my cousins came to our house! We all went to the Crayola Factory. We had a blast making all the projects. We also went to Philadelphia. We say the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall where they wrote the Declaration of Independence. We took a horse and buggy ride past historic places.
We got to stay really late to see the Baha Men in concert and the fireworks for the Welcome America! Party. We had to run all the way to the train station to make the last train of the night!
We had a Christmas in July
played lots of games. Everybody had a really great time and they were asking about next year's party.
We just came back from Family Camp in western Maryland at Deep Creek Lake. We spent time swimming in the lake, and playing with all the kids. We had a bonfire which was lots of fun. The night of the bonfire I accidentally stepped on a skunk that was trying to get inside and I got sprayed! The whole lodge stunk and I had to take a shower in the outside bathroom.
I've also spent the summer being on a soccer team, taking swimming lessons, going to science camp and reading club at the library and Cub Scout Camp. So far, I've really done a lot this summer!
