This month was cold and snowy! The lowest temperature this month was 3 degrees(F) and we had 23 days where the temperature was below freezing! We also got an official total of 28 inches of snow this month! The biggest storm was on February 16 and 17 when I measured 22 inches in our backyard! It was so cold that we went sledding at Lake Nockamixon and we could sled and walk right out on the frozen lake where the boats usually go. |

We celebrated Chinese New Year at the beginning of the month. We made dragon and lion masks and ate Chinese Food. I also did the Great Backyard Bird count from February 14 - 17th and have done lots of bird watching this month. You can check out my article on the birds on the second page of this month's edition. |

This month my Cub Scout Pack celebrated the Blue and Gold Banquet. They gave out awards for the Pinewood Derby race. I won a ribbon for coming in 2nd place in my den (third graders.) They also gave out achievement awards. I did all 12 requirements to earn my Bear Badge. I also did 30 extra activities so I earned one gold arrow point and two silver arrow points too. Finally, I also worked and finished 17 other activities to earn belt loops in music, bowling, communication and heritages and an academic pin in music. |

In school I started learning about the Southwest Native Americans and the desert biome that they live in. In math I am still learning multiplication and fractions and decimals. I've also been reading alot, especially Boxcar Children Mysteries for fun. |

Do you like dolphins or reading true stories? I read a great book named Dolphin Adventure by Wayne Grover. It's about a man who scuba dives and meets dolphins that have a baby that needs help. The baby dolphin had a hook stuck in its tail. The dolphins actually came over to him for help. It was really exciting when the man got to touch the dolphins.The baby was bleeding badly and then the sharks came! Will the baby dolphin make it or not? Will the man be safe? To find out, you'll have to read the book. |

March, 2003 - National Craft Month and Youth Art Month
The whole month of March is for arts and crafts. You can learn a new craft or finish a craft project that you have just sitting around. Try sculpting with clay, using paper mache, or painting with different things (sponges, combs, use vegetable slices as stampers). You can try to visit an art museum or art exhibit with your family. |

This day is in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. His birthday is really on March 2nd, but that is a Sunday. So the official celebration for schools is on March 3rd. You can have a birthday cake, make a "Cat in the Hat" hat out of construction paper and then read. Reading is my favorite thing so I am not going to miss this.

From February 1st, Gabrielle had been counting the days until her birthday! On February 24th, Gabrielle had her third birthday! She had Dora and Blue's Clues decorations. She got lots of presents like a Blue's Clues colorforms kitchen play set, a Blue's Clues computer game, lots of books, puzzles, and a board game. |

Gabrielle can recognize her name now. She loves to do puzzles and can put together 25 piece puzzles by herself. She is great at making patterns. She is also really good cutting with scissors. Gabrielle had a great month and a great birthday!! |
