Gabrielle's Grab Bag
Adventures in August
I'm glad we are on the web now with a REAL web page. Now everyone should be able to see my newsletters.  In case you missed the July newsletter, I am writing this newsletter to tell you what I'm doing and it is part of my Homeschool assignment! I hope you like it. My mom and I are still learning how to make a web site. We should get better at it each month.
August was another busy month for me. I kept swimming because it was so hot! I started acrobatics class and learned how to do backward rolls and cartwheels. I have also been reading lots of books. My Monet garden grew really well this month even though we didn't get much rain.
I went fishing a bunch of times this month. We have a kayak that we sometimes use to fish and to just relax. I really like to go fishing, even when I don't catch anything. This month I didn't catch any fish but I caught poison ivy! I really itch!!!!
I went on a rafting trip on the Lehigh River up in Jim Thorpe, PA. I also took a trip to my Grandma and Poppa's in Connecticut. They took  me to the Carousel Museum and a museum for old fashioned fire fighting equipment. We went to the Quakertown Band Concert and they had a cake walk. Guess what? I was the winner of a cake because they called the number that I was standing on!

This month I also went to the Physics and Geology lab at Moravian College. I got to see their fossil and mineral collection and their weather station and seismograph. I also went with my mom and sister to the Discovery Center in Bethlehem, PA. I really liked crawling through the Discovery Tunnel in the dark. I got to see the dinosaur exhibit. I put together a huge wooden puzzle of a T-Rex skeleton. My other field trip was to the Lost River Caverns in Hellertown.
Hope you like the web site. Make sure to check out all 3 pages! (The links are above the guest book sign in.)

Book Review
This month:
Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle,
Hello, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle,
by Betty
Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's Farm
,      MacDonald
Rafting is...

fun like winning a bike marathon,

horrifying like a house catching fire,

exciting like going to the carnival,

soaking like diving into a ten foot deep pool,

adventurous like going into a forest you've never gone into!
Do you have bad habits? Do you know anybody who does? Do you forget to clean up your room? Do you whisper during class? Do you forget to feed your pets? You need Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle!
In all the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books, she cures children with bad habits. She is very nice and has unusual ways to cure children. She once used a parrot to cure a girl who answered back!
One cure that I liked was when there was a boy who did not clean his room. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle told his mom not to clean his room for him. One day his room got so messy he couldn't open the door and Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle was taking kids to the circus! The boy cleaned his room so that he could go and every time after that he cleaned his room.
If you like to read fun books and want to find cures for bad habits, I recommend the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books!
Here I am rafting on the Lehigh River with my dad, and our friends Sylvia and Aisling.

Gabrielle's Grab Bag
Gabrielle loves to play with clay. She always tries to make a snowman and rabbit out of clay. She has a basket of Winnie the Pooh clay toys that she likes to play with too.
Gabrielle turned 2 1/2 at the end of August. She can count to 21. I'm helping her learn how to count. We do the calendar every day.
She likes to sing songs and she changes all the words until it's just "quack" or "woof". The best thing yet is that Gabrielle thinks that I am funny!
