The Tale of Desperaux
by Kate DiCamillo
Quests, dungeons, castles and dangerous rescues are all part of this very exciting adventure story. This story is about Despereaux, a small mouse with big ears and an even braver heart.
One day Despereaux hears a song as sweet as honey. When he finds where the song was coming from he finds the Princess Pea in her room. When Despereaux sees the princess, he falls in love with her. While he visits her room, he breaks the three biggest mouse rules: don't let a person see you, don't let a person touch you, and most of all do not speak to a person! He falls so much in love that he doesn't even care.
Soon the mouse council finds out and decides to throw him into the dungeon of the castle to get eaten by the rats. With help from an unlikely friend, Despereaux escapes the dungeon. Soon the princess is taken into the dungeon and Despereaux ventures back into the dungeon to save her.
To find out if Desperaux survives the dungeon and rescues the princess, read this great book!

Monthly Math Challenge
Here's the math challenge for February! See if you can figure out the probability of catching us at home!

Gabrielle and I wake up at 6:00AM. Later in the morning I go with Gabrielle to gymnastics for 1/24 of a day. Later we are at swimming for 1/8 of a day. We head to the library for 1/12 of a day. Gabrielle and I go to dance for 1/8 of a day. Finally at the end of a busy day, I go to sleep at 9:00PM. If you tried to call us between 6:00AM and 9:00PM what chance do you have of calling us while we are actually at home?
There would be 1/2 of the cheese pizza left and 1/6 of the veggie pizza left.

P.E. Challenge
Here is a P.E. Challenge I thought of because I started playing volleyball.

Try to bump a ball to yourself 10 times, try to set the ball to yourself 10 times or try to go bump, set, bump, set to yourself 10 times.
