Ella Enchanted

   In the book, Ella Enchanted, Gail Carson Levine took a well known fairy tale and expanded it and added details. In the book, when Ella was born, a fairy gave her a "gift": obedience - She had to obey anything that anybody ordered her to do. This was not a good gift! Ella spends her life obeying everyone, but trying to think of ways not to obey!
     After Ella's mother dies, she sets out to find the fairy who gave her the "gift" hoping she'll take it away. This leads Ella to lots of adventures and trouble as she meets giants, ogres, elves, gnomes and princes. Some of the characters will make you laugh, some will make you angry and some will make you frustrated. No matter which character you like the best, you'll love finding out whether the fairy takes back her gift and what happens to Ella. This was a terrific book!
