A brief description of each character and a few key facts about them.
MARIUS PONTMERCY
1810 - ????

Description:
"He was a royalist, fanatical, and austere. He had little love for his grandfather, whose gaiety and cynicism wounded him, and in the place of his father was a dark void. Otherwise, he was an ardent but cool lad, noble, generous, proud, religious; honorable to the point of hardness, pure to the point of unsociability."

Bio:
The son of Colonel Pontmercy, who died at Waterloo, Marius was raised by his grandfather, M. Gillenormand, to hate everything his father had fought for. He entered law school, where he became a republican and a Bonapartist, which got him thrown out of his grandfather's house. He moved in with one of Les Amis, Courfeyrac, but couldn't keep up the rent, so he moved to the Gorbeau House, where he met Eponine and the Thenardiers. He bumped into Cosette one day, and fell in love with her. Eponine brought him to Cosette, and he vowed to marry her. But the barricade went up, and Marius fought with Les Amis. He would have died, but was rescued by Valjean. After recovering, he married Cosette and they lived happily ever after.
