Bill Wissing - Bass

After playing with the Claimjumpers, a traditional jazz group under the tutelage of Bill Clark, and earning a degree from Metro State College of Denver where he studied with Ron Miles, Bill aligned a group from the Colorado Jazz Workshop stable to form the Wissing Four, now known as the Gold Rush Quintet. He's studied Bass and Guitar technique, music theory and harmony with renowned master Dale Bruning.

David Nelson - Guitar

David's desire to understand jazz harmony was born after hearing Bill Evans on Denver jazz radio. David admires guitarists Paul Bollenback, Jimmy Bruno, Adam Rafferty, Tom Dempsey, and Pat Kelley. His earliest jazz influences were Schroeder (Vince Guaraldi) from "A Charlie Brown Christmas", and the swinging theme from "The Flintstones". Yabadabadoo!

Jerry Pagett - Tenor and Soprano saxophones

Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Jerry was a Music major at Wayne State. His main influences are Motown, Blues, early John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Paul Desmond, Dextor Gordon and Rich Chiaraluce. Jerry is currently studying with Rich Chiaraluce.

Bob Wolfson - Vibraphone and Drums

Bob, a native of Denver, started on the piano, but switched to the drums at the age of 13 under the instruction of Dave Jack. He was performing soon after and worked steadily in clubs and in the studio between 1971 and 1984, when he started a Medical practice in Trauma, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery. At this time, he also began studying mallet percussion with Mark Foster of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. He continues to perform regularly as drummer, leader and director of his jazz octet, "Eight to the Bar", formed in 1994. Bob is a member of the Colorado Jazz Workshop.

Steve Burkholder - Drums and miscellaneous squeaks

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Steve majored in Music Performance at Duquesne University. There he studied with Lenny Rogers, Eric Kloss, and David Budway. His major jazz influences are Art Blakey, Max Roach, Tony Williams, and Elvin Jones. He is a student of jazz great Paul Romaine and is a member of the Colorado Jazz Workshop 10:15 & 12:00 Bands under the direction of Hugh Ragin.
