A Little About us,

The Young Marines program has been a youth program for girls and boys ages 10 to 18 since 1958 when it was established by a Marine Corps League detachment in Waterbury, Connecticut. The program is designed to keep young men and women drug free and to help them lead a healthy lifestyle. However, it does more than that. By participating in a program such as this, the young people of our nation gain qualities they can use for the rest of their lives, as well as have fun and make plenty of friends in the process.

Our unit, the Golden Gate Young Marines, is based out of Alameda, California on the aircraft carrier the USS Hornet CVS-12 Museum. We hold most of our drills and activities on this ship. Our unit also does other fun activities such as a river rafting (on the Sacramento River), Parades(4th of July Parade, Veterans Day Parade etc.), camp outs, and much more.

Our Unit was established around April of 2001 and our first boot camp began during June of 2001. The unit was officially started on 10 November  2002 on its first boot camp graduation. Since then we have come far and have graduated 5 new classes of Young Marines and plan to have many more in the future. Our Commanding Officer is Mr. Caesar Batalao (CWO3 USMCR Ret.)  Our Unit plans on having many more recruit classes and fun activities in the future. We hope you enjoy our website and plan on visiting the unit in the near future. For more information please contact Mr. Caesar Batalao at [email protected]
