| "Oh no, I'm late" said Zayra as he saw how bright it was and leaped out of his furs and dressed as quickly as he could, just as Zayra was racing down the stairs his mother stopped him. "Zayra today you don't have to work since you got your sister a flit last night" said Gya handing Zayra a pile of clothes. "What are these for?" asked Zayra as he accepted the clothes. "Today your going to the gather with me and Nira" said Gya walking away. Just as she finished Zayra raced back up the stairs and into his room. "Hey Nau, today we get to go to the gather" said Zayra slipping out of the clothes and putting the new ones on. "Hurry up Zayra, I want to show everybody my new flit" announced Nira at the bottom of the stairs. Once Zayra was sure that his clothes looked nice he went down the stairs to find that his mother was just finishing with Nira's hair. "Lets go" said Gya leading her children outside to the wagon that was waiting for them. "Hey you got a wagon" said Zayra as he took a seat, Gya nodded and helped Nira up and then herself. When they were all seated the driver started the team, soon they reached gather and Gya paid the driver the amount of marks that she owed and then they were at the gather to buy a few things. |
| "So what are we here for?" asked Zayra as they began to see their first stand that was selling dresses. "Well Nira wants a new dress and there's the stand that sells what I want" replied Gya. "You know that I can't be seen near a stand that sells dresses" pleaded Zayra. "Well it would hurt your pride if you were forced to go to the stand but here's some marks, go buy what you want then meet me back here in half and hour or less" said Gya walking to the stand. "Good now I can finally get my belt and knife" whispered Zayra as he began to search for a stand that sold what he wanted. After fifteen minutes of walking Zayra found a stand that sold belts and knives and walked up to it. "Hold a second, I think that I know a belt and a knife that would be perfect for you" said the merchant disappearing behind the counter and reappearing with a leather belt with dragons fighting thread carved into it. He laid it on the counter then went to a wall and pulled down a sword and set it onto of the counter next to the belt. To Zayra's surprise it only cost him half of the marks that he had, so he paid what was asked and slipped the belt on and then he put the sword in it's place. "Thanks for buying, now I need you to go to that cloth shop directly across from here and tell the woman that Dater sent you" said Dater. |
| So Zayra went across and told the woman that Dater sent him. Nau glided from Zayra's shoulder to the counter when the woman came and measured Zayra's height, then went back to the stand and went to the back and looked like she was getting something. "Here this is just what you need, may I borrow you flit for a second please?" asked the woman and Zayra nodded while trying to figure out what the woman had given him."It's a cloak son" replied the woman as she measured Nau from top to bottom. Once she was satisfied she went to the back of her stand and in her absence Zayra tried on the cloak, it draped over his body hiding it. Then he pulled the hood on and it and the shadow it made almost covered his whole face. "Hey Nau look what I got" said Zayra as he ran his finger down Nau's back. Nau gave one of his I like that chirps, and then the woman came back holding what looked like a small cape. She slipped it on Nau and he looked like a blue with a black back. "When you fix the flit's cloak to your likening it will really look good on him, since Dater sent you to me you owe me nothing" said the woman. "Thanks" said Zayra as he put Nau on his shoulder, once he was a bit away from the stand he fixed Nau's cloak to Nau's likening. Once he finished he made his way back to the stand where his mother told him to meet her. |
| When he got there Gya looked really mad, she turned and walked toward him and said "Excuse me sir but have you seen a boy at six ft with brown hair that sticks up and with a blue flit near him?" asked Gya, before Zayra answered he decide to play a little trick on Gya. "Yes, I'm sorry to say that I have" replied Zayra. "What do you mean?" asked Gya. "You didn't hear, well it seems that the kid you described got in a fight and almost stabbed a kid with a nice looking knife" answered Zayra. "Oh no, Zayra how could you do such a thing" said Gya putting her face in her hands. "I'm sorry" said Zayra pulling his hood back and then pulled Nau's hood back. "Zayra, that was a mean trick to play but you did apologize and those are nice looking cloaks you and Nau got but didn't you get your belt and knife?" asked Gya. "I did, the belt and sword were only half of what you gave me and the cloaks were free" answered Zayra handing Gya the extra marks. "Well that's good but now there's someone that I want you to meet, follow me" said Gya grabbing Nira by the hand and leading Zayra through the gather and stopped for him to see a blue dragon and its rider. |
| "Gya is this Zayra, I can't really tell cause of the cloak," said the rider, Gya nodded and the rider continued "I'm U�mlt and this is blue Girth" said U'mlt. "I'm Zayra and this is blue flit Nau," said Zayra as the rider began to chuckle. "Ok, Girth did you search him?" asked U'mlt as his dragon began to talk to him. "Interesting, Zayra we have several spots open for our clutch at Sidra Weyr would you like to come?" asked U'mlt. "I would love to come" answered Zayra, "uh Mom will you tell dad where I'm going?" asked Zayra. "Zayra, the riders that I mentioned to you to, well I asked them to search you; so we've all known" replied Gya. "But whose going to help dad with the fishing?" asked Zayra. "Today when your father left to go fish he said that he found an apprentice to help him on the jobs that you did" answered Gya. "Zayra it's time to go" said U'mlt as he mounted the large blue and extended his arm to help Zayra up, Zayra gave quick good byes and let the rider help him up. Girth pumped his wings launching them into the air and when they were in the open they went between and arrived at Sidra Weyr. |
| The blue landed and U'mlt helped Zayra off, then he got off the dragon. "That way is the sands and where you sign up to become a candidate and if you need any help just ask around, people here are nice enough to help" said U'mlt walking away with his blue behind him. "I think I'll go sign up but, what are Un-Impressed Dragonets" asked Zayra read a sign that pointed to the lower caverns, "that must mean that they didn't impress with anyone yet.I'll think that I'll go see them and check to see if any will impress with me" said Zayra walking down to the lower caverns and to see if his bondmate is one of the dragonets that haven't impressed. |
