Parting Shot

This page is ultimately why I chose to study artificial sweeteners.  I have heard of studies finding that some artificial sugars were "bad for you" and could cause diseases, prior to researching this topic.  But, after looking into the dangers of artificial sugars, I found that some studies found cancer rates, and rates of other disease to increase, but not with an overwhelming majority within the study.  The most common potential disease-causing artificial sweetener is saccharin, which has been found in many studies to cause bladder cancer in rats.  But, there is no long-term research on this subject, concerning humans.  All sweeteners approved for use in the United States have passed Food and Drug Adminstration tests.  Additionally, all sweeteners have undergone extensive testing from organizations concerned with the potentially hazardous effects of artificial sweeteners.  Though, sucralose has undergone the least amount of credible tests.  So, all in all, I am, (in addition to everyone who is slightly knowledgable about this situation), to determine if artificial sweeteners are dangerous or not.
