The competition ends next Monday and the winner will be decided by a random drawing among all valid entries. Good luck to you all! I can tell you that there will be other suprises throughout the week as the countdown to the final ever DBZ episode on Wednesday continues. Todays episode is set ten years after the defeat of Buu where some suprises await you so make sure you see todays episode "Grandaughter Pan". As some of you may know Dragonball Z: Budokai will be released soon on Ninenendo GameCube and some screenshots have been revealed. Shockingly they have decided to use cel-shading on the graphics lke they are with Budokai 2 for PS2 which make the graphics more like the show. Check out the graphics by clicking here. I'll do the new comics for Gohan's Comics Corner tommorow as I've run out of time today! Laterz! (LU) 29th June 2003 by gohan2k Dragonball GT CCG Score has finally revealed some more info on the Dragonball GT CCG annoucning that while people can choose to play only the DBGT CCG they can also use the GT cards as an expansion for the DBZ CCG! Read more about all this here. Finally today make sure you come back to this site Monday as I have a suprise for you... EC3 Begins 30/6/03 27th June 2003 by gohan2k The Legacy of Goku 2 is Out Now! I'll never understand the video game release system. They tell me the game will come out in the first week of July and it comes out over a week before! That's right everyone The Legacy of Goku 2 for Gameboy Advance is now avaliable in New Zealand. Here's some info about the game from GameWizz Interactive... "Prepare For An All-New DBZ Adventure! Just when the Z Warriors thought the struggle against evil was over, a new evil approaches. In this next episode of the DBZ RPG franchise, players will take on the role of Trunks, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Goku as they journey through the Cell Saga and prepare to do battle with the mighty Cell himself. With five playable characters, hours of gameplay, and hundreds of maps to explore, its a DBZ adventure of epic proportions." Make sure you check out this sites Legacy of Goku 2 Preview featuring tonnes of screenshots and info on the game as well as the GameWizz Legacy of Goku 2 page fr even more info. Hopefully I'll play the game soon and tell you all how it is. You may have noticed little hints that something is coming to this website (something big) well keep coming back to the site as more and more hints are reealed. The Power is Unleashed 30/6/03 25th June 2003 by gohan2k So Majin Buu has been Defeated...What Now? In yesterdays Dragonball Z episode "Spirit Bomb Triumphant" Kid Buu was finally destroyed once and for all by Goku's Spirit Bomb so what does this mean? This begins the end of Dragonball Z with only five episodes left. The first of them is todays episode "Celebrations with Majin Buu" which is set not long after Kid Buu's defeat as Fat Buu deals with the world. I like Fat Buu as he is so funny to watch. Todays episode also features the only series appearence by Videl in her own Great Saiyaman outfit. Something is coming...Something Big... 24th June 2003 by gohan2k Last DBZ Episode IS Wednesday, Live Action Movie News Yeah so I made a mistake in my calculations as I accidently left out an episode (Celebrations with Majin Buu) meaning that the final ever Dragonball Z episode will screen on Wednesday July 2nd. Heres the list with that correction... 271 Spirit Bomb Triumphant - Tuesday 24th June 273 Celebrations with Majin Buu - Wednesday 25th June 273 He's Always Late - Thursday 26th June 274 Granddaughter Pan - Monday 30th June 275 Buu's Reincarnation - Tuesday 1st July 276 Goku's Next Journey (FINAL DBZ EPISODE) - Wednesday 2nd July Naturally I highly recommend seeing todays Dragonball Z episode "Spirit Bomb Triumphant" as it sees the final end of Majin Buu and begins the road to the end of DBZ. Theres two more episodes which are set shortly after the Buu fight but then the last three episodes are set ten years after the Buu fight. So what will happen to this site after DBZ finishes? Well I won''t go completely into it now except to say that it will remain open. And also I have a few suprises for you next Wednesday... I've managed to find out some information on the upcoming Dragonball Z Live Action movie thanks to this site. The director has been revealed as Roland Emmerich who directed such movies as Universal Soldier, Stargate, Independence Day, Godzilla, and The Patriot. It's also been revealed that Hugh Jackman (X-Men, Swordfish, X2) who was going to play Goku in the movie has been given the boot as he was holding up production. A new actor has yet to be cast but the choice as out of three actors who are said to be as equally famous as Hugh Jackman. The earliest this movie will come out is 2005. I rang Gamewizz today and it seems the Legacy of Goku 2 will be released in New Zealand sometime next week. I also got a look a the new styled Dragonball and Dragonball Z graphic novels which are not that much smaller than the old ones but look a lot cooler. I'll have a better review of them at a later date In updates news I added Android 13, Android 14, Android 15 and Barry Kahn to the Character Guide although I don't have images for them at the moment (If you don't know who Barry Kahn is check out the Character Guide) 23rd June 2003 by gohan2k Last DBZ Episode Date? I noticed in the newest edition of the TV Guide that Dragonball Z ended on Thursday June 26 meaning that the final two episodes would be missed so I asked TV3 about this and their reply was... "3 will play the last episode we have on weds July 2nd at 4.30. Zoids starts Thursday 3rd" Of course shortly after this I noticed that this would mean that TV3 had an extra episode in order for the last episode to play on the Wednesday because at the current rate the final episode would screen on the Tuesday. Heres and list of the episodes and their screening dates... 270 People of Earth Unite - Monday 23rd June 271 Spirit Bomb Triumphant - Tuesday 24th June 273 He's Always Late - Wednesday 25th June 274 Granddaughter Pan - Thursday 26th June 275 Buu's Reincarnation - Monday 30th June 276 Goku's Next Journey - Tuesday 1st July Finally today don't forget to check the final part of the Me and Mr Piccolo comic at the bottom of this page! 19th June 2003 by gohan2k TV3 Confirms they will NEVER play the Lost 16 DBZ Episodes On their official website TV3 confirmed through an a spokesperson that the skipped episodes (224-238) will never be played on TV3. Heres what they said.... "The missing DBZ episodes are exactly that. Missing. Forever." So things such as Goku Going Super Saiyan 3 for the first time (and he was the first to reach that form), the death of Babidi, the first appeareance of Old Kai, the revival of Kibito and first appearence of Gotenks will never be played on NZ TV...ever... Finally today I have completed the English episode listing for Dragonball and now all 153 Dragonball episodes can be found here. I was able to complete the list thanks to Saiyanz Rage. That's all for now! 18th June 2003 by gohan2k "Dragonball" on Lycos Top 50 for 200 Consecutive Weeks Since August 1999 Lycos has made a listing of the top 50 subjects searched for on the Lycos search engine called the Lycos Top 50 and now in June 2003 they have finally reached the 200th week and guess what? The search term "Dragonball" has been on the list every single week an honour shared with only five other subjects (Pamela Anderson, Las Vegas, Britney Spears, WWE and Jennifer Lopez). Dragonball has also been in the top 10 for a large amount of that time. As I mentioned last week the Buu saga of the Dragonball Z CCG is out now and as I promised heres a list of the main personalites.... Hero Starter Deck: Goten, Goku, Teen Gohan, Kid Trunks, Piccolo Villain Starter Deck: Fat Buu, Dabura, Majin Vegeta, Babidi In release news the DBZ Series 2 DVD Boxset Part One has been given a release date. It will be released on Friday 18th July along with the last two Cell Games saga releases. This awesome boxset contains 8 uncut DVD's and will cost around $190. Click here to see what DVD's will be in the boxset. In other news the new Dragonball and Dragonball Z graphic novels have finally been released and it looks like they will now only be released in the smaller, cheaper format which is good if you haven't bought any yet or terrible if you have (like me) they are only a bit smaller than the old style and cost $10 cheaper at $22.50. Both Dragonball and Dragonball Z Volume 11 are only in the smaller format while Dragonball and Dragonball Z volumes 1-10 are in both formats. Finally today just a note to say that I recommend seeing todays DBZ episode "Earth Reborn". I loved watching yesterdays episode as I really like Fat Buu because he's so funny! 17th June 2003 by gohan2k DBZ Budokai 2 Screenshots and Movie 8 Music If you haven't already heard there will be a sequel to Dragonball Z: Budokai released in December on PS2 and with The Legacy of Goku 2 now released in the USA (today in fact) it means the the news about Budoaki 2 will begin to come in starting with a whole bunch of screenshots on DBZonPS2.com. The screenshots mainly feature Goku figthing Super Buu and Fat Buu but also feature screenshots from the new Dragonball search mode. As you will see by visiting this page the new graphics for the game have been changed to make it more like the anime. The only thing I hope for this game is thatthe New Zealand version will be released in freakin English rather than damn Japanese! That is all I ask people...Its not much really... Anyway in other news it seems Funimation has decided to go back to using real bands for the upcoming eighth Dragonball Z movie Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan. The two DBZ specials and movies 4 and 5 used music from bands like Deftones and Disturbed but movies 6 and 7 just used music from Mark Menza. Funimation knows this is the most highly anticipated movie yet with Mike McFarland (DBZ voice director and voice of DBZ characters like Master Roshi and Yajirobe) saying "I believe that Broly is the best Dragonball Z movie we've made thus far". You can see more interviews about the movie by clicking here. Thanks to Daizenshuu Ex for this news! 16th June 2003 by gohan2k Dragonball Z: The Live Action Movie Bonanza! On May 13th I mentioned some news about the Dragonball Z Live Action Movie which I had got from Saiyanz Rage (although it was also on Kiji Anime). Anyway so the news went like this... "Sources inside 20th Century FOX Report: FOX is shooting for a PG-13 rating [which in New Zealand will probably be either a PG or a M] and a running time of somewhere between 3 to 4 hours. They are hoping for the DBZ movie saga to be 4 episodes long (4 movies). Starting in The Saiyan Saga, The Frieza Saga, The Android/Cell Saga, and the Majin Buu Saga. George Lucas' CGI company ILM has signed a contract to do the special effects. Some sad news, due to casting and scheduling difficulties, filming that was set to begin real soon has been put off until Summer 2004. The original Release Date. Once the movie is finished filming and all post-production effects are added in, this movie may not be out until well into 2005. As of right now there is no definite title. The most obvious choice would be plain "DragonBall Z", but FOX is also leaning toward "DragonBall Z: Unlimited" or "DragonBall Z: Fight For Mankind." Anyway it seems that FUNimation got a hold of this news and posted it on the Official Site and said it was "unconfirmed news" on this page. Anyway I have recently discovered that Saiyanz Rage didn't get it from "A Source inside 20th Century Fox" like they said but rather took it from this Live Action Movie site. This site claims to have a spy inside Fox called "Mr Z" who gives him info on the movie. At the moment I am believing this sites info to be true. The Script - The site has quite a lot of info on the movie including the cast and the script. Naturally they (the makers of the movie) are changing the story a bit with some notable changes including the fact that Bulma will be a fighter (played by Jessica Alba from TVs Dark Angel) and that during the fight with Vegeta Goku will turn super saiyan (or at least sort of). They have also eliminated the character of Kami and Chaozu will only have a cameo. Also Goku's outfit will not be orange but will be blue instead (understandable I think and Goku did wear a blue outfit at the beginning of Dragonball). The current script can be seen by clicking here The Director, Scriptwriter and Cast - Although its not on the website the wemaster of the site, ChainsawZombie announced here that the director will be Roland Emmerich (director of movies such as Indepence Day, Stargate, Universal Soldier, Godzilla and the Patriot). There are two scriptwriters but only one of them is known and thats Tedi Sarifan (who wrote Tank Girl and the upcoming Terminator 3). The cast meanwhile includes Jessica Alba as Bulma like I said earlier, Goku will be Hugh Jackman (Wolverine from X-Men), Ray Park (Darth Maul from Star Wars Episode 1 and Toad from X-Men) as Vegeta, Orlando Bloom (Legolas in Lord of the Rings) as Tien. See more of the cast by clicking here. I am suprised that Ray Park will play Vegeta as he's not much of an actor (he barely spoke in both Star Wars and X-Men and with his strong English accent he was dubbed over for his role as Darth Maul) but he does have awesome martial arts skills and performs many of his own stunts. See more cast by clicking here. I know I said I'd have a "heap of updates" for you well to be honest I got a little bit (Okay, a lot) distracted by all this live action movie info but I did manage to update The Legacy of Goku 2 Preview Page. The Legacy of Goku 2 comes out in America tommorow and is released in NZ on July 1st. Finally today don't forget to check out the third part of Me and Mr Piccolo at the bottom of this page! |

Check out this page for more info on the DVD. In release news 3.21 Cell Games - Earths Last Hope and 3.22 Cell Games - Awakening have both been released today. Yesterday I did a preview of 3.21 Cell Games - Earths Last Hope and so now I will do a preview of the second release 3.22 Cell Games - Awakening... (LU) 12th June 2003 by gohan2k Must See Episode - "Vegeta's Respect" Every now and then I'll mention an episode that has certain qualities that make it a must see episode and one of those is todays episode "Vegeta's Respect". This episode marks a great moment in DBZ as Vegeta after having a flashback finally admits to himself that Goku is better than him! He also realises that Goku's prime reason for fighting is simply because he loves to do it. Make sure you don't miss this one! Two Cell Games releases come out on Friday and include uncut versions of Gohan vs Cell and Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 transformation which is avaliable for the first time ever. The two releases on Friday are 3.21 Cell Games - Earths Last Hope and 3.22 Cell Games - Awakening and I'll preview the first one (Earths Last Hope) in a second but first I have discoved the release dates for 3.23 Cell Games- Sacrifice and 3.24 Cell Games - Nightmares End as being Friday 18th July. The Series 2 DVD Boxset Part One featuring uncut Frieza saga episodes not yet released on DVD will most likely be released in July but I'm not sure of the exact date as of yet. And now heres a preview of the first Cell Games DVD released tommorow Earths Last Hope DBZ Volume 3.21Cell Games - Earths Last Hope Release date: Friday 13th June Released On: Video, DVD (English/Japanese) Features the episodes... Faith in a Boy: To everyone's surprise, Goku appoints Gohan as the next contestant against Cell. But Krillin has bad news for the brave android! (Episode 168) Tommorow I'll preview the second release 3.22 Cell Games - Awakening which contains the episodes where Gohan goes Super Saiyan 2 for the first time. In updates news I have added Otokosuki to the Character Guide and I also expanded and updated the bios of Yamcha, Videl and Yajirobe 11th June 2003 by gohan2k Dragonball Z: Taiketsu Info, New DBZ Figures Up until now information on Dragonball Z: Taiketsu, a Dragonball Z fighting game for the Gameboy Advance to be released in the USA in November, has been rather low but now Atari has finally released some info on the game. This news is thanks to DragonballToys.com "Atari has just released information about Dragonball Z: Taiketsu for the Gameboy Advance. Taiketsu will be a fighting genre game and support multiplayer options (apparently it is set up so there will be two human players and two computer players). The characters that players can choose from are Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Frieza, Cell, and Buu. The only two confirmed places to fight at are Orange Star City and Roshi's Island. The developer of Taiketsu is Webfoot Technologies. Gen Fukunaga, president of Funimation, stated that he is pleased to be working with Atari once again because they really know how to bring the action of DBZ to fans." New Dragonball Z Figures can now be seen at the Z Store. These figures will be released June 23 in America and some time (not sure when) in New Zealand and include the following figures... 5" Figures Series 25 - Gotenks with Kamikaze Ghost, Mystic Gohan, Super Buu, Tien and Vegito Giant Ape (Series 3) 9" Fusion Collection - Gotenks, SSJ3 Goku, Vegito and Super Buu in Orange Gi Giant Ape (Series 4) 9" Movie Collection - Android 13, Super Androdi 13, Vegeta and Future Trunks 5" Energy Glow - Super Saiyan Gohan, Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Future Trunks 5" Striking Z Fighters (Series 4) - Dabura, Super Saiyan Vegito, Super Saiyan 3 Goku and Tien. I especially like, and in fact might buy the Super Saiyan 3 Goku 9 inch figure although the Super Android 13 one looks awesome as well. Finally today I've updated the Character Guide to change some character names to their English versions rather than being listed under their Japanese names so Kirano is now Narig, Nokku is now Knock and Moukeko is Wild Tiger. I still have one more character to add today (Otokosuki) so I'll do that. I've also added another question to the Ask Gohan section which details the release of Dragonball GT in New Zealand so make sure you check that out. Finally today just a note to say that I recommend playing the new video game Enter the Matrix (I played the PS2 version but its also on X-Box and GameCube) which I rented yesterday as its totally awesome. I especially like using "focus" which enables time to slow so you can see bullets coming towards you matrix style not to mention all the extra footage that was created exclusively for the game. 10th June 2003 by gohan2k New DBZ Finishes Wednesday July 2nd, Buu Saga CCG Out Now As you have already seen yesterday new episodes of Dragonball Z did continue will End of Earth" and TV3 has confirmed that they will now continue until the end of the series. Heres the word from the TV3 Website... "We will play Dragonball Z until the end of the current series (finishes Wednesday 2 July). Replacing it will be new episodes of Zoids: Chaotic Century Masters" From what I can work out this means that the final ever Dragonball Z episode "Goku's Next Journey" will screen on Wednesday 2nd of July. If you didn't already know there are no Dragonball Z episodes after that but there is a sequel series called Dragonball GT but the earliest that will screen is April next year. In other news the new Buu Saga of the Dragonball Z Collectible Card game is now out in New Zealand featuring all new cards. The Buu saga has several new features including the abiltiy to fuse the Goten and Trunks personalites into Gotenks for five rounds, Gate-fold High techs, the super strong Majin Buu personality and Dende dragonballs. See one sites review of the Buu Saga CCG here. I'll detail exactly what personalities are in the Buu saga starter decks soon but I can tell you know that Oolong is one of them! Finally today I have done a new section which you can now all visit. This section contains old and new reviews of DBZ Episode DVD's and DBZ Video games like Ultimate Battle 22 and Dragonball Z: Budokai and is called Dragonball Z Reviews (naturally) so make sure you check that out. 9th June 2003 by gohan2k Will New DBZ Continue? As I mentioned on Thursday its possible that last Thursdays episode "Evil Kid Buu" could be the last new episode for a while. I emailed TV3 but received no reply so we will just have to wait and see. If the next enw episode "End of Earth" csreens today then I highly recommend you see it as the psycho named Kid Buu suceeds where no other DBZ villain has...Actually no I won't spoil it you'll have to wait and see..... Don't forget to check out the second part of the fan comics Me and Mr Piccolo which takes a comedic look at Piccolo and Gohan's wildrness training. 6th June 2003 by gohan2k The Dragonball Z Video Game Accesories are Awesome! And they have all been revealed on the Official Dragonball Z Website. They include Dragonball Z starter kits for Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, PS-One and Playstation 2 with DBZ memory cards, carry cases and controllers! I like the DBZ PS2 Vertical Stand which comes with the PS2 Starter Kit and the Limited Edition DBZ Controllers with come in five different chracters - SSJ3 Goku, Teen Gohan, Kid Trunks, Vegeta and Piccolo. Check out the full range with images by clicking here. The only problem is that they might not come to New Zealand. They have been released in America now but NZ will see them at the beginning of next year - if at all... Just a reminder that theres no DBZ on today as Basil Brush will be on instead. The next time DBZ will be on is 8.30am Saturday when Android saga repeats will screen . Dragonball Z episodes will return 4.30pm Monday but whther they will be repeats or not is still yet to be known (see belows update for more info) Finally just to let you all know thatn I've temporarily removed the Humour Pics section which I am improving on at the moment it will be back soon (hopefully tommorow) 5th June 2003 by gohan2k Was the Final New Episode of DBZ on Today? As sad as it may seem todays episode of DBZ 'Evil Kid Buu" might have been the last new episode and repeats may begin on Monday. "Evil Kid Buu" was certaintly the last episode screened in the USA for a while and then they came abck and screened the final thirteen. I know its Friday tommorow but theres no DBZ on a Friday (Basil Brush is on instead) I've emailed TV3 so hopefully I'll know soon but otherwise we may have to wait until Monday! As part of the promo Jason from Electric Artists has sent me about DBZ video games I've put up two images promoting Ultimate Battle 22 (left hand column underneath the NZ DBZ news Headlines) and Legacy of Goku 2 (bottom of the page). A little note about the Ultimate Battle 22 gif is that the cover shown is not the cover in New Zealand although it looks cool our cover is this one here. The Legacy of Goku 2 promo at the bottom of the page enables you to go to a page to find out what DBZ character you are (I'm Gohan and no, I didn't cheat). Also make sure you check out the Legacy of Goku 2 Newsletter for info and screenshots from the game. It has been revealed that Gohan will be able to do his Masenko! Bad news on the release of Dragonball and Dragonball GT in NZ and Australia as of now it will be coming out in October at the earliest. Although its possible that they will be announced later there are no plans for any DBZ related releases from August-October. All of Dragonball Z will be released in NZ by August 1st including the Frieza, Garlic Junior and Captain Ginyu sagas on DVD and the rest of the Cell Games on both VHS and DVD. In DBZ related news I found out from KyleHebert.com (the official site of the voice of Teen Gohan) that Scott McNeil who was the original voice of DBZ's Piccolo, Jeice and Nappa (before DBZ episode 54 and the first three DBZ movies) will be starring as the lead villain in the sequel to last years Scooby Doo called Scooby Doo Too. Scott is also famous for his roles of Beast Wars (Dinobot, Ratrap and Waspinator) and can currently be heard on TV2's X-Men: Evolution as the voice of Wolverine. Finally today I'd also like you to check out the first of hopefully many "DBZ Quote of the Moment" which features a cool one liner from a DBZ character and can be found next to the Legacy of Goku 2 promo at the bottom of this page. At the moment its a classic line from one of Babidi's henchmen, Pui Pui, that proved to be so wrong! Underneath the quote is a one liner from me on the quote! Check it out!! 4th June 2003 by gohan2k May Beckett DBZ Collector Now In New Zealand I finally got paid today and went straight away to get the latest (May) issue of Beckett Dragonball Z Collector. This is quite a good issue and includes Dragonball GT info, Babidi Saga CCG Card Images (cards 64-123), Wat DBZ toys Irwin was going to release before they went bankrupt, an interview with DBZ music creator Bruce Faulconer, a Picture Guide to the whole of Dragonball Z, a poster of Pan, Babidi saga CCG review and reviews of two websites, DragonballGT.com and DBZ Saiyan Chronicles. This combined with the usual Master Roshi's Trivia, Art Gallery and Checklist/Price Guides creates one damn good issue. I also finally picked up my copy of Dragonball Z Movie 7 - Super Android 13 which I shockingly still haven't done my review of on this site yet but you'll have to wait a bit longer as I haven't seen it since mid April and want to see the movie again before I review it. 3rd June 2003 by gohan2k The Monkey King - My Review Sorry for the lack of updates recently but I've been quite busy. I did manage to complete a new section featuring interviews with the DBZ voice actors such as Sean Schemmel (Goku), Chris Sabat (Piccolo/Vegeta), Stephanie Nadolny (Kid Gohan), Kyle Hebert (Adult Gohan/Narrator) and Laura Bailey (Kid Trunks) so make sure you check out the Voice Actor Interviews section! I noticed yesterday that sadly there was no Dragonball Z on yesterday as TV3 has a sad reluctance to play Dragonball Z on public holidays but don't worry its back today. Although Dragonball Z wasn't on The Monkey King was and it played in two 2 hour parts on Sunday and Monday at 8.30pm and I watched both. I think it is important to say that unlike what I had previously thought this was not a retelling of the book Journey to the West but rather it told a story around the book. Only three characters that I can tell were in the actual book and two of those (Monkey and Pigsy) were based on Jounrey to the West characters on whcih two Dragonball Characters (Goku and Oolong) were based upon. The first part on Sunday was the weirdest as Monkey extended his pole really far (just like Goku's weapon called the Power Pole) and then hopped on a flying cloud (just like Goku's Nimbus). When Dragonball creator Akira Toriyama began writing Dragonball he wanted to create a modern day version of Journey to The West which at the beginning of Dragonball can be clearly seen if you've read Journey to the West (I haven't read it but know a little bit about it) but eventually he began ignoring the original story so by the time it got to DBZ none of the original story remained and its also important to note that things like Dragonballs, Energy Attacks, Saiyans and such things were invented by Akira Toriyama. Many people say they found the Monkey King too confusing and thats probably because the book its based around (Journey to the West) is not as important or well known a part of Western culture as it is to those in Asian countries. I have a new comic for you which is called Me and Mr Piccolo and tells a humourous tale of Gohan and Piccolo as they train in the wilderness. This four part comic begins with part one at the bottom of this page in Gohan's Comic Corner. |
