| 30th March 2003 by gohan2k The Return of Dragonball Z! Its funny when this happens. Two days ago I posed the question of when Dragonball Z would return to TV3 and it seems the questioned has been answered. Unfortunately though Dragonball Z's return will be in repeats only (sources say the Trunks saga episodes will play). The repeats will begin this Saturday at 8.30am after Zoids: Chaotic Century. Although its not what I was hoping this is better than nothing. Lets hope that the new episodes are on soonand they don't screen at this time or day... In DBZ video game news it seems that info and screenshots have been previewed on the sequel to The Legacy of Goku, The Legacy of Goku II, original reports said the game was called Legacy 2: Future Shock. Heres some details about the game... Publisher/Developer: Infogrames Platform: Gameboy Advance Description: Prepare For An All-New DBZ Adventure! Just when the Z Warriors thought the struggle against evil was over, a new evil approaches. In this next episode of the DBZ RPG franchise, players will take on the role of Trunks, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Goku as they journey through the Cell Saga and prepare to do battle with the mighty Cell himself. With five playable characters, hours of gameplay, and hundreds of maps to explore, its a DBZ adventure of epic proportions. Features: * Play as Trunks, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, and Goku. * Spans the Trunks Saga, Android Saga, and Cell Saga. * Train, fight and fulfill quests as players advance their way to battle the evil Cell. * Gameplay is 3 to 4 times longer than the original Legacy of Goku. * Over 200 maps to access and explore. See more details on this game including screenshots and the package art by clicking here. The same site also has a page on the upcoming Dragonball Z Budokai for Nintendo GameCube which is much the same as the PS2 version already avaliable. See that page by clicking here. Please notes that products on those two websites are in USA prices and USA release dates. Video games purchased from that site will not work in most NZ gaming machines. The NZ release dates have yet to be announced but the likely releases are Mid June for Legacy 2 and Early September for Budokai on GameCube. In related vigeo game news the Yu-Gi-Oh PS-One game, Forbidden Memories, is out now! The Armageddon Pulp Culture Expo website has updated their site with a floor plan showing where things will be at the expo. They also now have a photo with the stars page. Thanks to the new info I've updated this sites DBZ at the Expo page with all the new info so check that out. Just so you know I'm not being paid for the DBZ banner at the top of this page - I put it there just to support the expo. The banner will remain there until April 15 when the old layout will be restored. That is all... For now... 28th March 2003 by gohan2k When will Dragonball Z Be Back? This is the question on the minds of many NZ Dragonball Z fans as the series is still yet to return to New Zealand after a year of waiting. The waiting continues as after checking the TV Guide for April 5-11 it won't be back before the Armageddon Pulp Culture Expo in Auckland from April 12-14. Although repeats of Transformers: Armada will end the show will be replaced by a new show callled Basil Brush. Naturally I had hoped that Dragonball Z would replace Armada but that time has passed. One possible explanation for the delayed return of DBZ is that TV3 are waiting for the final fifteen episodes (episodes 262-276) which have just finished in America so they can combine them with the rest of Season Six (episodes 223-261) and play them all at the same time. My current estimate is that Dragonball Z will play after the airing of all the Basil Brush episodes (assuming that TV3 doesn't repeat the series) meaning it should begin in May... 27th March 2003 by gohan2k Dragonball Movie 4 Release in USA If you live in the USA you might be intrested to know that Dragonball Movie 4 "The Path to Power" will be released in the USA on April 29 but you can preorder know from the Z Store. The Path to Power starts with a retelling of Goku's first meeting with Bulma, Oolong, and Yamcha, up to the point where Goku fights and destroys the Red Ribbon Army. This movie was Dragonball's fourth and final movie and was released in Japan after DBZ concluded, in 1996, and therefore has a higher quality of animation. If you live in New Zealand it is unknown when this movie will see release here because none of the Dragonball TV series or the first three movies have been released here (or in Australia). I'll let you know as soon as I find out when Dragonball will be released in NZ... Oh and if any of you care about Yu-Gi-Oh! you may be intterested that a new PS-One game has come out. Yu-Gi-Oh!: Forbidden Memories tells the back story of the TV show as you duel people. find out more info by clicking here! 26th March 2003 by gohan2k (Fill in the Blank) Ultimate Battle 22 _______ If you said "delayed" then you'd be right. The new NZ release date for the PS-One DBZ fighting game, Ultimate Battle 22,is now set at April 2nd! If you live in the USA though its out now! |

| 25th March 2003 by gohan2k Exclusive DBZ CCG Cards in DBGT Release FUnimation and Score have announced that they will be putting exclusive DBZ CCG cards in the upcoming release of the Dragonball GT DVDs in the USA. The first two DBGT DVDs, Affliction and Incubation, will come out on April 15 in the USA. It is unlikely however that when these DVDs come out in NZ that they will feature the cards inside them but you never know... Meanwhile, at the 75th Academy Awards yesterday a anime named Spirited Away won Best Animated Feature Film. Spirited Away was up against some pretty big films such as Ice Age, Lilo and Stitch, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmarron and Treasure Planet. Spirited Away tells the story of a girl named Chihiro. Her parents and her have just moved to a new town, but get lost along the way. Her father ends up taking a wrong turn into what appears to be a deserted amusement park. While investigating, Chihiro's parents find a food stand and beginning eating, but get turned into giant pigs! Chihiro's family has stumbled across a spirit vacation resort, a place forbidden to humans. Chihiro is forced to work in this resort or her parents will be killed. Theres a lot more to the story as well.. Spirited Away will be in selected NZ cinemas (click here to see which ones) from April 3. Sounds like a pretty cool movie! (LU) 24th March 2003 by gohan2k This is Just Ridiculous... Bad news again I'm afraid as Ultimate Battle 22 has been delayed for the fifth or so time. The new release date is Wednesday March 26 . I'm sick of doing these "Ultimate Battle 22 has been delayed" updates so the next time I'll mention the game will when it is actually released. Check the "NZ DBZ Release Dates" down the left side of this page to find out any more delayed dates. Oh and don't forget to check out the new Tomako's Revenge comics at the bottm of this page! 21st March 2003 by gohan2k Ultimate Battle 22 Delayed AGAIN! The Dragonball Z fighting game Ultimate Battle 22 for PS-One has been delayed for release yet again and is now set to come out on Monday....hopefully... I am pleased to announce that this sites first competition winner, Josie Ponce, has received her prize of a free DBZ CCG card signed by the voice of Gohan, Stephanie Nadolny, I have enjoyed this past competition. and look forward to announcing competition 2 in which the prize will most likely be a DBZ video... I am saddened to announce that my first ever Elite Affiliate, Dragonball.co.nz, has closed. The awesome webmaster of the site, SFranky, is now working on another site. I hope the site will one day return... In DBZ Web Community News Daizenshuu Ex held a competition isn whcih people were asked to design video cover art that was bettern than FUNimations new Dragonball GT covers and the winners have been announced. Click here to go to that page and check out the winners! 20th March 2003 by gohan2k Just Typical... I take a day off from updating and theres suddenly a flood of news. Oh well... better get into it... If you live in Christchurch and play the DBZ CCG you may be interested in the South Island regional taking place in your town. On this Saturday March 22 there will be a DBZ CCG tournament taking place at the Christchurch City Club, 2002 Oxford Terrace. The entry fee is $17.50. Registartion begins at 9am and play begins at 10am sharp. For more information click here. The North Island regional will be at the Armageddon Expo Saturday April 12 More info on that here Manga Entertainment has announced the official New Zealand release dates for the new Dragonball Z videos and DVDs. Volume 5.15 Kid Buu - Vegeta's Plea and Volume 5.16 Kid Buu - The Price of Victory. This is interesting because on the Armageddon Expo website it says that these and the seventh Dragonball Z movie, Super Android 13, will be avaliable at the Auckland expo which is on the 12-14th of April. I suspect the the Armageddon sale of these titles is a pre-release and they will only be avalible in NZ there but will be in the rest of NZ from the 18th...Just a guess...I also notice that Super Android 13 will be avaliable at the Expo but its NZ release date has not be announced yet.... It seems that the PS-One Dragonball Z game, Ultimate Battle 22, has been delayed again. Originally it was supposed to come out on Tuesday but it was delayed till today (Thursday) and is now delayed until tommorow (Friday). This gives it the same release date as the Yu-Gi-Oh! PS-One game, Forbidden Memories... Some of you may be interested in the chance to hang round with Sean Schemmel and other Expo guests on the night of April 12 as most expo guests are attending the 2nd annual Video Ezy DVD awards in Auckland. It goes from 7pm till 10.30pm and dinner and desert. There is also an open bar and a buffet. The downside (and the reason I won't be going) is the ticket price of $109 per person. Click here if your interested in finding out more info! 18th March 2003 by gohan2k The Ultimate Battle is Delayed Yesterday I mentioned that Ultimate Battle 22 for PS-One is coming out today well it seems the game has been delayed a couple of days and it will now come out on this Thursday, the 20th of March, I'll have more deatils on the game then! The game costs $69.95 and features 22 characters plus another five to unlock. More details tommorow! Oh and don't forget to check out the new Tomako's Revenge comics at the bottom of this page! 16th March 2003 by gohan2k Graphic Novel Release Dates I have discovered the release dates of the next graphic novels for both the Dragonball and Dragonball Z graphic novels. While Viz Communications is quite slack in keeping their site at www.viz.com up to date with the graphic novel releases but thanks to Amazon, the online shop, at www.amazon.com I discovered the release dates. Dragonball Z Volume 11 and Dragonball Volume 11 will both be released in May 2003 in only the new smaller format (only half the price of the old size) as will Dragonball Volumes 8-10 and Dragonball Z Volumes 8-10. Things really heat up when the match between Jackie Chun and Tenshinhan becomes a battle of ideology rather than strength Dragonball Z Volume 11 Cover: Click Here! If that hope fails, only the legend remains... In Tommorow News: Will there be a winner for the competition? Plus the new Tomako's Revenge Comics! 15th March 2003 by gohan2k Worlds Strongest Review With the whole daylight savings thing going on you guys get an extra hour to enter the competition and due to the slow rate of entries the next person to enter the competition is highly likely to win themselves a free DBZ CCG card personally autographed by the voice of Kid Gohan. And now its time for the Gohan Video Rating where I, gohan2k, give a brief review of the new episodes of DBZ now avaliable! DBZ Volume 5.13 Kid Buu - Regression Rating: 5 out of 5 My Thoughts: Vegeta proves hes an idiot again as he creates another powerful form of Majin Buu called Kid Buu. I love flashbacks (the ones will all new footage) and this one has a good one of life before Majin Buu and how he eliminated the kais and why he became Fat Buu. It is in this vid that Majin Buu suceeds where no other DBZ villain has, he blows up the Earth!!! We also get to see the other world fighters Pikkon, Olibu and Mariakoh which is cool! DBZ Volume 5.14 Kid Buu - Saiyan Pride Rating: 5 out of 5 My Thoughts: The battle of battles begins and Goku finally goes Super Saiyan 3 again! Its about time! Vegeta fights Buu without going super saiyan and gets totally wasted! In hell we get to see Frieza, King Cold, Burter, Jeice, Guldo, Recoome, Cell and Dr Gero watching the fight and Babidi even shows up! But the best part of this one is after wathcing Goku fight Buu Vegeta finally admits that Goku is better than him!!!! Finally today just a quick note telling you guys to go visit Dragonball.co.nz as today (Saturday) is its last day so check it out before it closes! 13th March 2003 by gohan2k New DBZ Videos, Competition Update It's good to see that more people have entred the contest to win themselves a free DBZ CCG card signed by the voice of Gohan. I am altering the rules slightly. The ninth person to email me with a question about DBZ wins remember? Due, however to the lack of emails I have got I am now making it that nine emails have not been received by 11.59pm on Sunday 16th March (this Sunday) then hte email closest to email number nine will win! I contacted Manga.co.nz (Distributor of DBZ videos and DVD's in NZ) about Dragonball, Dragonball GT, the release of DBZ Movie 7, Super Android 13, and the video release of Dragonball Z Volume 5.14 and heres what they had to say... It seems that you all need a little motivation to send me questions for the upcoming "Ask Gohan" section so I've decided to have a competition. The ninth person to email me with their question about Dragonball or Dragonball Z. (Dragonball GT is accepted but not preffered) will win the prize! What is the prize you ask? Actually it seems that according to the catalogue on the site that The Price of Victory will only be released on DVD but that could be an error... 5th March 2003 by gohan2k Dragonball GT in UK Keeps the Original Music... The UK is the great envy of may Dragonball Z fans in America, New Zealand in Australia at the moment. Not only does the UK get Dragonball GT in English first (the first episode screened on Monday) but they also get the original music (as opposed to FUNimations rap) and accurrate title translations! The UK dub is being done by the sister company to Ocean called Blue Water which has a completely different cast. This of course means that Ocean's Scott McNeil, Brian Drummond and Terry Klassen (who also did NZ, Australia and USA's DBZ episodes 1-53) are gone from the UK English dub forever and the UK has a new set of voices to get used to while in the USA, NZ and Australia we get to keep FUNimations voice actors (which is the only upside about FUNi's GT dub so far...) 3rd March 2003 by gohan2k New Affiliate, New Comics Yeah like it says above I got a new affiliate. The site is called DB Dreamz and the site features tonnes of Information, mutimedia and DBZ UK Release dates so check it out! The new Tomako's Revenge comics are on this site todayn so check them out at the bottom of this page! 2nd March 2003 by gohan2k DBZ Dizks in Mania and CN Magazines, Graphic Novel Disgrace While the American DBZ community has finally discovered the existence of the DBZ Dizks (which are spinning tops featuring DBZ and Beyblades in chip packets avalaible in Australia) New Zealand fans may be interested to know how they can get their hands on one. While the chips with the DBZ Dizks are only in Australia in New Zealand its possible to get them free with two kids magazines. The March 2003 issue of Mania and the February 2003 isssue of Cartoon Network Magazine both feature one DBZ Dizk. There are various characters so its best to pick one with the character you like most. Cartoon Network is the cheaper of the two magazines at only NZ $2.50. If you buy one make sure you check that it does actually conatin a dizk as some people rip them out of the packaging and steal them... On Feb 22 I mentioned the re-release of the first seven graphic novels of Dragonball and Dragonball Z well now I've discovered that these new second editions are a different size and won't be "compatible" with the older, larger ones. On the upside though they will be reduced from a price of $32 down to only $15... Also it seems that Dragonball will now only be released in graphic novel format and no longer as a monthly comic... 1st March 2003 by gohan2k Babidi Saga Released, DBGT in UK Before USA The Babidi saga expansion for the Dragonball Z Collectible Card Game has been released in both the USA and America. The Babidi saga features 125 new cards that expand the game and add new Majin personalties. Here's the announcement from Score, makers of the cards... " [The] Babidi [saga] officially releases TODAY! You've been waiting for it,and now its finally here! So, go out and get your hands on that the overwhelming power of the Majins! And for all of you that plan on going to Regionals, start tweaking your decks, because starting with Gamestorm in Portland, Oregon [USA] on March 15th, Babidi Saga will be tournament legal! Think about it..." In other news it has been revealed by fans in the UK that Dragonball GT, the sequel series to Dragonball Z, will begin in the UK on Monday 3rd March on CNX. For those of you who don't know the UK receives a different dub than in New Zealand, Australia and the U.S but you can read more about that here.. I am please to announce the return of the comic archives for the first two comic series featured on this site (the third and current one being Tomako's Revenge). The first two are now avaliable so check out the Little Saiyalings and Dragonball at the Beach archives now! Catch you all tommorow! |
