Cosmetics safety

Cosmetics can cause infections when products become contaminated or are misused. Here are some general precautions for using cosmetics safely:

  Discard any make-up that smells rancid or has lost its consistency.

  Wash hands before applying cosmetics.

  Wipe off containers with a damp cloth if they become dusty or dirty.

  Keep makeup containers tightly closed except when in use.

  Never share.

  Throw away eye cosmetics after six months and mascara after three months. 

  Do not store cosmetics under direct sunlight. Doing so can increase the chances of destroying preservatives that protect against bacteria. They can also lose their original consistency.

  Never add any liquid to a product unless the instructions tell you to.
