you think should be on here that isn't? If so, email the webmaster
about it.
Here are some of the best computer programs for
Go:
2007 Orlando Go Tournament Flyer - Download the flyer for the tournament here.
CGoban2.6.12-
This is the client to use KGS (Kiseido Go Server). For those not
computer savvy, basically download this if you want to play Go online
against other people across the world as well as the Go Club of
UCF. Download this, register for it, and join the GoClubUCF KGS
Room. If no one is in there to play against, just go play in the
Beginner's/English Language Room.
Glgo_1.3.1-
The program itself is called GlGo. It is basically a program that
makes text-based Computer Go programs (i.e. GNU Go) into a more
visually appealing graphics-based program.
GNU_Go_3.6
- This Computer Go program is called GNU Go. GNU Go is
the second most powerful Computer Go program in the entire world
(behind Go++, which costs $50, while GNU Go is free). On KGS, GNU
Go is at 12k (people test out their computer Go programs on the
net). For an explanation on the rating system, please go to the
FAQ section.
GNU Go has multiple difficulty settings, with it's lowest settings
at around 20k strength. This means that if you are a beginner at
Go, play it at the lowest setting, and give yourself a 9 stone handicap, and
you still might lose.
Kombilo
- One of my all time favorite Go programs, this cool program is
simply one for improving your game. Once you download it and the
database of professional and top amateur Go Games, you can input
in any combination of moves, and an area on the board you want to
search, and Kombilo will look through every game in it's database
for a combination matching the one you inserted and the most popular
responses to that scenario. A great what-if scenario program, and
a great tool to improve your joseki.
Go_Game_Database
- This database has over 42875 pro games inside of it. Use it with
Kombilo mainly, or just replay famous pro games of the past to see
just how bad we amateurs are.
