Edwards slumps eight spots in the standings in three weeks
Office Depot, the "Official Office Products Partner of NASCAR" and Roush Racing announced today that Office Depot has signed a new multi-year deal to be the primary sponsor of the #99 Roush Racing Ford, driven by Carl Edwards beginning in the 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season. "I'm really excited to have Office Depot on board as the primary sponsor of the No. 99 Ford in 2006 and beyond," said Edwards. "I'm proud to represent Office Depot and all of their employees and customers across the country. There is an obvious cross-over between the NASCAR fan base and Office Depot's customers and I'm excited that they've chosen me, Roush Racing and the #99 team as their vehicle to communicate their messaging. I know I speak for my entire team when I say we look forward to having Office Depot as a part of our team in the future." Office Depot's foray into NASCAR began this February when the Company announced its sponsorship of Roush Racing's #99 Ford that ultimately extended to a total of 17 races for the 2005 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season.(Roush Racing site)(7-8-2005)
Edwards Finishes Strong in Chicagoland Busch Race
Carl Edwards, No. 60 Charter Communications Ford Taurus
Chicagoland Speedway/July 9, 2005

JOLIET, Ill. (July 9, 2005) – Edwards finishes a strong fourth in his first NASCAR start ever at Chicagoland Speedway. The fast 1.5-mile speedway was just what the doctor ordered for the Charter Communications Team. They had been struggling over the past two weekends and were determined to get back into the top-five and gain ground on the leaders in the NASCAR Busch Series Championship Race. If it wasn’t for a bad restart on the last caution of the race, the team feels they had a good shot to win. The Charter Communications Team goes into New Hampshire coming off this very strong finish and feel they are back on track to challenge for the Busch Series Championship.

Edwards started the race in ninth position and by the time the first of seven cautions flags flew on lap 30 he was in the 7th position. Brad Parrott the crew chief had Edwards pit early, because Edwards had reported that he might be having a right side tire problem. The crew changed four tires and made a track-bar adjustment. When the green flag waved Edwards had maintained 7th and by lap 38 had moved into 5th.
