4th Album News From MTV
From the sound of things, Britney Spears appears to be channeling Madonna
on her fourth album.
The pop singer, who took a step toward womanhood on Britney, has taken the Material Girl's cue, seeming to address more adult themes and styles while retaining a sense of girlish fun on her upcoming disc, which she previewed for MTV recently at Battery Studios.
"I've really been able to take my time and have creative control and make [the new album] special, special, special," she said.
Producers who have worked with the singer including Rodney Jerkins, the Neptunes, 7 Aurelius, the Matrix and Fred Durst have described the new material as having a trip-hop vibe, reminiscent of Madonna's "Ray of Light".
Parts of Spears' suggestive "Touch of My Hand," one of three songs the singer played for MTV, merit that comparison. With a Middle Eastern influence, the song is sleek and fluid, with Spears singing in a slightly lower register of her desire to be "out of control": "I will be bold/ Going to the places where I can be out of control/ Don't want to explain tonight/ All the things I try to hide."
"It's one of my favorite tracks on the album," Spears said. "I like to compare it to 'That's the Way Love Goes,' kind of a Janet Jackson thing."
While "Touch of My Hand" makes it clear what Spears wants, the dance song "Brave Girl" is about finding out what you want in the first place. Backed by choppy, electro-funk beats, she sings in a bouncy near-rap, "She's going to find her passion, she's going to find her way, she's going to get right out of this/ She don't want New York, she don't want L.A., she's going to find that special kiss."
"It's basically about going out and having a good time," Spears said.
The bubbly nature of "Brave Girl" also seems to be more indicative of what the rest of the album might sound like, according to sources close to Spears who've heard more tracks and describe them as upbeat.
Of the songs previewed, "Every Time" is Spears' most adult and her closest attempt at a traditional pop ballad. "Every Time" has a lilting piano intro accompanying the singer's breathy vocals, which build from soft to strong, despite lyrics that suggest she feels otherwise. "Go to sleep ... why carry on without me?/ Every time I try to fly/ Without my wings/ I feel so small."
One thing you won't find on the album is a response track to ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River," despite rumors to the contrary "You know, it's funny," she said. "I read that I wrote this song and I wrote these lyrics, and that's not my style. I would never do that."
#1 For her last comment - she can cheat on him, but she's not going to write a song about it... probably because she lacks the imagination to try and blame the breakup on him. But she tries to imply she's "better" than him by saying that she would "never do that." It amuses me that she says she read that she "wrote" a song and "wrote" lyrics- that'd be a first, Britney writing her own material!
#2 Britney trying to be Madonna? Gosh, that's a surprise...! Comparing herself to Janet Jackson? That's a mistake.
#3 "having a good time" - the only thing she seems to want to sing about. She never gets personal with her songs (like Christina and Pink), it's always about partying and/or having fun. No mind or originality.
#4 "closest attempt...pop ballad" it's funny the words they used. She "attempted" apparently. She can't sing ballads. She doesn't have the singing talent at all to sing that live! She needs "upbeat" songs that she can cover with lip-synching because of the "dance steps."

BRITNEY SPEARS is selling her Hollywood Hills home to actress BRITTANY MURPHY
because it holds too many memories of her ex-boyfriend JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

pop star boyfriend - but since their shock split last year Spears has hardly
used the house.

Auction House
Britney Spears attended a press conference to announce the launch of her first
online charity auction of one of a kind Britney Spears memorabilia. All proceeds
from the auction will go to the Britney Spears Foundation. The press conference
was held at the W Court Hotel in New York City on Thursday (May 22).

#1 Just read the lyrics and I'm sure we will have the same thoughts on it... The song absolutely sucks. It's more meaningless crap from an untalented image-based fake. By the way, who sings their own name in a song? She's gotten so full of it over the years!
#2 If you've heard any of her songs (from TRL premiere), you can hear more worthless songs she's putting out there. I'd like to hear some song that not only makes sense, but it's not talking about a guy and it means something to her. Take Justin, Christina, Pink, etc -pop artists whose songs still mean something to them!

Do you regret the whole Britney thing?
Fred: For one thing, I am not a fan of her music. But through a couple meetings,
I became a fan of her. She's just a sweet, innocent, beautiful Louisiana girl.
I like a girl who can dance, and she can dance. And then we end up kickin'
it. I actually started liking this chick, and I didn't want to at all. I really
liked her. We had our moments that were very cool.
Why did you kiss and tell on the Howard Stern Show?
Fred: Well, she was kind of making a fool out of me and acting like we were
never even hanging out. Like we weren't, like, being intimate with each other.
I was already dealing with the big backlash of hanging out with her in the
first @#%$ place, and I was sticking up for her on my Web site, to my own

Have you seen her or talked to her since this all went down?
Fred: She left me a message saying, "Let's just be cool" and "I'm
sorry everything got like it was." She also left me a message right after
the Howard Stern thing. She goes, "Fred, you better watch your back,
because you are seriously @#%$." It's so funny. I saved them all just
in case I ever need them

Britney Will Always Be Anticipated No Matter What
In a recent survey that was published in the May issue of Popstation Magazine
asking its readers which artists from the bubble-gum pop era (1999-2000) they
think were still hot property after rocking the music world 4 years ago. Only
4 names were obvious stand-outs: Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, *NSYNC,
and the Backstreet Boys. The dubbed pop princess easily garnered more or less
40% of the votes, followed by Christina Aguilera with 28% of the total votes
cast. *NSYNC stretched to third with 22%, and the Backstreet Boys having 8%
of the votes. The remaining 2% of the votes were shared by LFO, Blink 182
and many others. Nonetheless, when bouted against modern day favorites, Britney
crashed to a modest No.4, just below fellow teen Avril Lavigne (No.1), rapper
Eminem (No.2), and hot-mama Nelly (No.3).
#1 Hahahaha pardon my laughing but the only thing she will be remembered as, down the line, is how easy she was. Little morals but eager to please.
Fox5 News Catches Britney Smoking On Tape
Fox5 News (New York City) was teased that they had caught Britney doing something
that she doesn't want her fans to see. It was footage of Britney when she
was at the Playboy party in NY. The news reporter was following her to ask
her about the party. When Britney and her "people" got around the
corner the camera came and caught her smoking. She had the cigarette in her
hand as she walked around the corner and you could see it.
Then when they tried to zoom in on the cigarette, as soon as she saw the camera she put her hand to her side and dropped it. But it was so fast it's hard to see. Then as soon as the camera noticed it, they all took off walking to leave and the camera still followed them and she was laughing and was like "we're walking and the camera is still following us, this is crazy". Then one of her guys grabbed the camera and the cop or whoever it was told him to not touch the camera and they just walked away.
#1 Sigh. We know she smokes, does she think we're stupid enough to think she doesn't? Why try and hide it now?
Britney Congratulates Ruben For Winning American Idol
It on Entertainment Tonight, Britney said: "Congratulations Ruben!! They
all deserved to win but Ruben definitley had the best voice and is so humble
and has a beautiful heart." -Britney
#1 Ironic she acknowledges someone who had to work, using his voice, to get
where he is... I personally think Clay has the better voice but that's just
me. I also only saw one episode of the show...
A little warping. Her chin enlarged (think Jay Leno lol), her eyes are bigger,
her lips thicker and her nose smaller. It's so easy to airbrush a picture...
On MTV Ben Afflect asked if Britney called Colin Farrel and she replied, "Ya know, I think girls shouldn't call guys, I think guys should call girls." What's your take on her comment?
Shes so stupid if you want to be with somebody pick up the stinking phone!
I think that if it's your personal prerogative to not call guys and to wait for them to call you that's fine, because I have quite a few friends who feel that way, but it doesn't have anything to do with them being antifeminist or against women's lib. On the other hand they would also never tell anyone else that they shouldn't, but Britney on the other hand feels the need to have everyone who listens to her express the same opinions since they are just so intelligent to begin with. I think its ridiculous that any woman (I use that term loosely) could get in front of thousands and thousands of people and put every single female into a box saying what they should or shouldn't do. Any women with any self-respect or awareness of what it truly is to be a woman would have never done this or at least realized afterward the error of her ways, but Britney obviously did never. Then again maybe she was just so excited that her crush, Ben Affleck was finally talking to her rather than accusing her of stalking!!!!!
I don't take offense to that at all. I think it's her upbringing, like I'm also from the south and we're like 20 years behind the times, lol. She's not telling everyone to do what she does (wait by for him to call), and I'm positive she didn't intend for it to be negative, like towards being a powerful woman or anything. It's just her opinion and how she goes about it. Plus I know a few people who would agree with that statement.

I think Britney's opinion is stupid. Sure, guys should call girls some of the time, but girls should also be able to call guys. For a pop icon like her (even if we hate that she is, little girls DO idolize her...) to say girls SHOULDN'T call guys goes against so much women have been fighting for. My mother burned her bra's back in the 60's for womens rights, and I'm proud to carry on her tradition (without all the fire).
Britney, again, is setting back women's rights... I won't go into anything
more, but the very fact that she said that she doesn't think girls should
call guys is very sexist.

A lot of people didn't like the jean dress, I thought it was lame that Justin
and Britney went in matching outfits, but I actually think the dress is cute.

Cute dress. Very simple but it looks comfortable. Her hair is really bad.
The colors, the length, and the lack of the brushing she did beforehand. I
don't know if she actually sold the items she wore or owned (all above), because
the mannequin they used is MUCH thinner than she is (which is a good thing
she's not that morbidly thin), yet the clothes fit it perfectly. I personally
think they, possibly just some, are copies of what she wore, but not her own.
More money without her having to give up anything (like she loves!).

I'm very proud of the shirt and pants. Covered yet cute clothes. The hat is
the only thing that went wrong. Both shirts and pants are okay (besides the
pants are too low, I hope she never bends down), but the hat is tacky and
it doesn't even match. What happened to the cute hats she copied off of Christina
and Jennifer Lopez?

First you see the bra then you don't. I noticed that the first time I saw
the pictures - which I would assume she wants since who wears a hot pink bra

I like the long brown hair. Only, this isn't her real hair. Notice above the
length of her real hair? She wears hair extensions even out-and-about. Sad,

Don't like the dress, her hair is long again (it grows fast!?) and blonde
hair - deja vu much? So much for the "New and Improved Britney."
I don't know why she ditched the brown hair already, maybe she was finally
getting taken seriously and couldn't handle it? Hehe. She looks really uncomfortable
too, with the face smiles.

Umm...I'd give this outfit a 3, (I would personally never wear it, that green is horrid!) And is it just me, or is the way she is leaning make her look bloated or something? It is nasty! Oh, and I LOVE the "I'm getting all into it even though I'm lip-syncing" face...priceless isn't it? The dress altogether is just...not good.
10-the dress is amazing and though it doesn't fit her as well as it probably should I'd definitely wear that. It's very sexy but not too revealing!

I give it a five. Only because 1) i wouldn't wear it and two) i hate dresses, but it does look good on her.
7 - i think its actually a really pretty dress, and i love the color, but it's a little too short. and i would never acutally wear it, because i wouldn't have anywhere to where it.
6- I like the design, it's sexy, but not too revealing. But the colors, especially the random black splotches, are gross.
She looks chunky and thick around the stomach area.. although the color is nice, the dress itself does nothing for her. She looks almost like she is pregnant.
I'd give it about a 5. Its not too incredibly ugly- and the cut isn't super revealing either. Its ok- I just don't like the bottom part near the legs- how it veers upwards....
1. okay, either she just jumped into a vat of slime or she is the Incredible Hulk... that is horendous. also, is it just me, or are her legs way more tan than the rest of her body... lol look at them, they are crazy dark.
