# Britney Says Controversial New Video Is About Reincarnation
In 'Everytime,' Spears dies in a bathtub but is living again by the end.

Madonna's rubbed off on Britney in more ways than one. Spears courts a bit of controversy with her latest video, "Everytime," in which her wrist spontaneously starts bleeding.
Premiered Monday on "TRL," just one day after Easter, "Everytime" doesn't quite go the length Madonna's "Like a Prayer" did to invoke stigmata, but what first appears to be a red Kabbalah bracelet on Spears' wrist becomes a line of blood, only made apparent when she pulls her hand into a bathtub and a small red fog appears in the water.
Instead of taking her own life as described in the video's original treatment, Spears instead dies a more mysterious death, since the amount of blood she loses is small — but she slips unconscious under the water nonetheless.
Despite her death, Spears ends up in a white-lit hospital room as a new mother gives birth. The final shot shows a fully alive Spears re-emerging from the bathtub, with a smile on her face. One way or another, she lives again.
"It's more like a movie," Spears explained when she called in to "TRL" on Monday. "It's different than anything I've ever done. It's dark, and it shows me in a different light. Of course, I'm going to go back and do dance videos, but I wanted to be inspired and challenged."
Though she didn't get a chance to say it for herself during her on-air chat, Spears called "TRL" back as the video was playing and asked the show to explain for her that the video's concept was about reincarnation.

Everytime Video Synopsis
Synopsis: When it starts, the two are in the limo. Britney Spears tries to
talk to him, he refuses to listen yet. The reporters are all swarming with
copies of tabloids and magazine articles. On the stand the headlines read:
"Britney's Shocking Secrets Revealed" and "Still in Love?".
The second is key in that it poses the question she's about to answer in the
video.
They make it into the room but there's a heated conversation where Britney asks him (In the hallway when you threw the stuff) "Why though?" and her boyfriend responds "Look, I'm sorry.." and tries to hug her but she pushes him away and cries "Just stop!" He proceeds to tell her "Yeah? Well ***** you!" while smashing a vase. Britney turns away in disgust and goes into the bathroom. Britney then climbs in the tub and notices her head is bleeding - only to slide deeper under the water.
Suddenly, , Britney is dressed all white walking through the hospital as
a woman has just given birth to a baby girl. An ambulance picks up Britney's
body as the paparazzi are trying to get that "perfect picture."
The camera focuses in on the mother, and then a flash of white light and you
see Britney's head popping out of the bath water, smiling.
With all her promo shoots and the heavily airbrushing, I'd figure I'd make
her a promo for her soft-porn concert...
I gotta ask you what you think about this whole marriage thing... I first
found out from my dad who saw it on TV and I thought he was joking...
(ex: publicity? drunk? marriage just a joke? what does
justin think?)
— Publicity, totally. However she needs to actually do some good instead of all negative since she's now over processed, getting gross looking, hairs fried, and full of non-talent, she decides to go for negative publicity as the easy way out. First lesbian action, now marriage ... what next?
—I wasn't shocked I was happy that she did it. I don't think she did it for publicity. I would do the same thing only I would try to STAY married. I was happy for her and I hope she had fun and that they will remain close. I think it was actually a good decision for her to kinda see the light in a way and know that she has to be a bit more responsible than that. No harm done, just havin' some fun!

The annulment, she stated something like " I didn't know what I was doing " ..HELLO, you signed the damn papers, Britney. Although, it's none of my business, but very amusing to read. THAN, this is funny, she said "It was a joke" than some other people said "She was very much serious about this, than quickly realized it was a mistake to do it so soon".. That is some funny stuff because there is a twist to every single story out there, which we probably all know what happened. She wanted to do it but he agreed just because he knew who she was ALTHOUGH, he claims he sees her just as a "childhood friend". They both knew that in the public she's Britney Spears: The fake slut, so I mean come on, you have to know it'll be in the news, if it weren't they also said something like they would of gone through with it, but since it caused so much hype, they didn't. First of all, she didn't even get married to Justin and she was with him for over 3 years. Now what I think about her being drunk? She may have had a few drinks but nothing where she couldn't walk, obviously because she signed papers and walked down the aisle AND had it video taped. So people who are trying to stick up for her by saying she was drunk, you should know that's bullsh!t. Another thing, I don't think Justin really cares, he's to busy finishing up his tour in the UK and having fun with another.. woman. Ahem. And I doubt he has time to care about what's going on with his ex.

point, Justin is glad he kicked that stupid bitch to the curb. I sure hope

Britney's Everytime Music Video
my analysis: OK I've seen the whole music video & the first part
with the boyfriend annoyed me. Why? Because he ignored her on the phone and
then he kept kicking things and throwing things.. so, as the character, I'd
say he was abusive.. but when he jumps on the tub to save her, that part was
hot! Not just because he was shirtless, lol, but he finally showed a sensitive
side. What I don't like.. the fact they showed her take her top of, again,
adding some "visuals" is really not needed. She did a decent job
with this video. On a grading scale, I guess I'd give it an A- ..as for all
her other videos-nothing above a C. I did enjoy the baby scene & before
they showed the mother's close up (like just when she was beginning to get
close) I thought it was Britney's mom... which I thought would have been cool
since it's about "reincarnation" according to her, so her mom giving
birth to a little girl.. of course it could be Jamie Lynn, lol, but still....
The ending: I thought ending the video as the mother was holding the baby
would have made it MUCH better- but ending it with her coming out from under
water and smiling?! Now that is a GREAT way to RUIN a video! It's stupid.
I like it realistic, not some stupid dream. It took a serious song & video
and made it lame...
Extra - I didn't like the skimpy thing she was wearing. The bottom
part looks like a diaper : / Anyway, that's what I thought about it ;)

Although I disagree about Christina showing more skin NOW (since Christina can still look classy, while Britney is always looking trashy). I adore Amy though and her songs are absolutely amazing!
(Talking about her 'Everytime' song and video) "It was one of the first slow songs that i had written. The inspiration was just to have like a beautiful, you know, a sweet love song. But the inspiration behind the video was because the song is like so very like a music box, I wanted the video to be like a contrast and to be kind of dark. So the video is very dark and it it -- it's more instead of me being very performancey and being pretty this is more like a movie. It tells a story. So, yeah, it's really different from anything I have ever really done. David lachapelle he did the video. He is great."

Britney Spears Causes Earthquake

It was reported today (15, April 2004) that two miles out of Los Angeles, Britney Spears and unidentified male were heavily consuming alcohol and when attempted to exit, a huge scene was unfolded.
"It was unbelievably amusing to watch," says a source. "Britney couldn't even stand up and was slurring her words as she was leaving."
When her male friend attempted to protect her from the humiliation, she pushed him away, exclaiming she was, "not a girl."
Outside, Britney sprang into verse , attempting to belt out a song like Christina Aguilera. As she danced herself into circles, screaming at the top on her lungs, an earthquake ripped through the earth and set everyone back at the shock. Soon after, Britney Spears and the unidentified male left in her Mercedes.
