The sun rose in Lincoln Memorial park, and Mulder began to worry. Scully had not shown up yet, and it was already morning. He stood up and looked around one last time before walking back to his car. He sat there for a few seconds wondering what could have happened. She said she was going to analyse the blood samples and autopsy the bodies, so she would be at the morgue or at the FBI research facility. Mulder started his car and drove away.
As Mulder passed the research facility, he saw Scullys car. There were still no other cars in sight. He looked inside, but there was no sign of her. He went inside the building, looking from room to room. Scully!? he called, but there was no answer. Finally he came to a room which looked like it had had people in it recently. The computer was still on. There was a plastic chair on the floor. Mulder turned it over and noticed some blood on it. He looked on the computer and saw the adoption certificate. She must have somehow also discovered what he had. And someone may have come to stop her from finding out. But who threw the chair? Mulder took a sample of the blood and ran it through the computer.
The door opened once again and Scully turned to see who it was. This time, Rodgers and smoking man both entered the room. Smoking man was carrying something wrapped in cloth, but Scully couldnt see what it was. Are you going to tell us what we want to know? Rodgers asked Scully. What do you think? I think this time you will he unwrapped the bundle to reveal a sleeping infant. Then he took out a pocket knife and brought it up to the childs neck. Well, agent Scully. Who means more to you? Mulder or your son? |
