Thomas Gowdy, moved from Monmouth Illinois to Garnett. Kan in September, 1869. Mr. Gowdy was a farmer and stock raiser and in keeping with the Gowdy tradition was a man of excellent character. He belonged to the 83d Illinois. regiment during the Civil War. Thomas was a twin brother to Robert. There were three children in Thomas and Nancy's family see the photo below. The background photo is of Mrs Thomas Gowdy, Nancy Jane Caldwell. The photos were found in an Antique shop in Marshfield, MO.

THOMAS GOWDY, son of John GOWDY and Nancy Jane CALDWELL, was born 12 Dec, 1834 in near Springfield, Clark Co., OH, and died 20 Feb, 1913 in Garnett, Anderson, KS. He married NANCY JANE CALDWELL 19 Sep, 1865 in Monmouth, IL, daughter of JOHN CADWELL and MARY NICHOL.
