Thomas was but eight years of age when his when his parents took possession of the old house near Springfield, Clark, County, Ohio. His parents, William and Isabella lived with him and died under his care. Then about 1858 Thomas B. Gowdy moved From Ohio to near Monmouth, Warren County, Illinois, and there he resided for many years. In 1884 in order to be near his two sons, Joseph K. and Alexander K., he sold out and moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska. Mr. Gowdy was a man of Spare build about five feet ten inches in height, with fair complexion, blue eyes and light hair. His disposition was gentle; he was kind in his family and good to the poor. He was in sympathy with the suffering and devoted to his church. His wife was rather slender in early life had. brown hair and eyes and was a favorite wherever she went.

THOMAS BIGGER GOUDY. son of William GOWDY and Isabella FLEMING was born 31 Dec, 1803 in , , KY, and died 04 Feb, 1886 in Pawnee City, NE. On 02 Oct, 1891 reburied at Monomouth IL.   He married NANCY PATTEN KIRKPATRICK 04 Dec, 1828 in , , OH, daughter of WILLIAM KIRKPATRICK and SARAH STEELE.
