Matilda Goudy was born on the family farm near Springfield, Clark-County Ohio. She was married to William Rice who was the brother of Harrison Rice, husband of Amelia her sister, and at the time of her death July 10, 1906, Matilda was residing on the farm her father, Alexander, had purchased in 1813 when coming to Clark County.
