| What is ARMA? |
| The Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) is an International organization of over 10,000 members and 150 chapters in more than 30 countries worldwide, including the Greater New Orleans chapter which was originally chartered on May 27, 1964. ARMA's mission includes the advancement of records and information management as a discipline and a profession, the organization and promotion of programs of research, education, training and networking in the profession of records and information management, and promoting cooperative endeavors with related professional groups. |
| GNO-ARMA offers valuable local networking time and experience to members every month. Involvement in GNO-ARMA leads to increased expertise through local seminars and meetings, forums for information exchange, and the eventual construction of a network of professional friends and contacts to provide a critical piece of information when needed. Topics covered at monthly chapter meetings include, but are not limited to, developing a records and information management program, managing legacy systems, managing electronic systems, legal exposure, business tactics, analyzing recordkeeping programs, cost effective solutions, electronic signature, records management over the intranet, barcoding, records retention, and optical disk media.
