Another Day With Us
Copyright Alice E. Steimle - 2004
Just the other day Cowboy and I were watching TV
These debates are so back-stabbing, they mock our dear Country
Then come the advertizements and more in my Email
I'm growing so sick of them as they leave their dusty trail

Our Country was found with God, and I wonder where is He now
We've kicked him out so often I wonder when we'll pray and bow
To those that don't like it here with Maxine I surely agree
I wonder if her maker was thinking about me
Now if you don't like it, soon you'll hear me shout
Just pack your bags now and get the hell out
The gas prices are rising, and soon we'll all need a job
I wonder who will hear us when we begin to sob

Now Bear just loves people food, and I can understand
With everything outrageous, we'll be eating dog food from the can
Every time I go to the refrigerator to get an ice cube
Bear's right there beside wanting another tube
Now just the other day Cowboy went to the garage to work on his trains
I walked around our property just waiting for the rains
When I came into one of our gardens azaleas were beginning to bloom
Is it Spring again or is it fall, or do I need another room
They're saying this winter will be nasty, and bitterly cold
Don't they know I'm no spring chicken, cause I'm getting old?
We're cutting down trees so we'll have plenty of firewood
I'd like to get it all in the house only if I could

While in the kitchen washing floors, an idea came to me
We've got this beautiful home, just Cowboy, Bear and Buffy
We don't need all the extra space, and the island had to go
This came to Cowboy wondering, and really a hard blow
With all this work, I stayed out of the computer room
I was working really hard, sweeping with the broom
Getting ready for the winter gives me a spinning head
If only I could rest a while and curl up in the bed

The plants needed watering, and bed needed a winter touch
I stripped everything off, but the work was a bit much
These dang legs were killing me, but work needed to be done
You never know when we'll have company, perhaps a family or just one
