Classroom Procedures
Classroom Procedures
MR KORDOSKY   (MR K )               BIOLOGY
MATERIALS:  All students should have a five subject, clean-tear notebook.  The first two sections will be for classroom notes. The next two sections will be used for homework assignments.  The fifth section will be used for lab notes and/or hand-in classroom assignments.  Notebooks may be checked once a marking period for neatness and completeness. Your notebook, textbook and a pen or pencil are required in class everyday, unless instructed by myself to do otherwise.

GRADING:  All students will be graded based upon satisfactory completion of  homework, classwork, (lab reports,) quizzes, tests, and projects. Classroom participation is also factored into your grade.
There is no fancy formula to calculate your grade.  All grades for the marking period are added up and your grade is found by taking the percentage of points you have earned out of the possible number of points available and multiplying by 100.
POP quizzes will be given during the year, so be sure to complete all reading and written assignments.
All test grades will be written in your notebook by me, and require a guardians signature.  This helps your parents know how youre doing in class.
ON TIME homework assignments receive a stamp upon completion.  Stamps are valuable in order to receive passes.  There are passes for homework, pop quizzes, quizzes, lab reports, and tests, so please be sure to do all your homework on time.

ASSIGNMENTS:   All assignments must be legible (readable).  Handwritten neatly is O.K., typewritten for reports is preferred.  Spelling and grammar count.  Lab Reports must follow the guidelines given or points will be deducted.   Assignments will not be accepted more than two days late.  For every day that an assignment is late, points will be deducted from your grade. Stamps are not given for late assignments.   Extra credit is only given in the form of bonus questions on tests, quizzes and projects.  Please do not ask for individualized extra credit assignments.

ABSENCES:    If you are absent, you have one complete day for each day you were absent to complete missed assignments.  Ex: Out Monday and Tuesday, assignments due on Friday.  It is your responsibility to see me either before school, or after school for missed assignments NOT DURING CLASS.  A class buddy is recommended if you know you are going to be absent.
If you are present for a test review and are then absent on the day of the test, you may be given a makeup test that can, and may very well be, an Essay Test.  Of course, doctors notes are accepted as reasonable cause.

DISCIPLINE:   Any student that causes a disturbance in class will receive one warning.  On the second offense the student will receive a 10 minute teacher detention with me the next day after school.  A third offense is a 30 minutes teacher detention and a call home to your guardian.  On the fourth offense you will be sent to the Vice Principal for administrative discipline.  If you are removed from class for misbehaving, you will receive a zero for all missed assignments.  There are no exceptions!  Detentions must be served within three days of their issue or they will be turned in for a school detention.

OTHER CONCERNS:  If you have any questions during the course of the year, do not hesitate to see me. I will gladly answer any questions concerning the class either before or after school on the days specified.
I am available for help Monday-Thursday after school ( 2:45-3:15), and most days in the morning before school starts. This calendar is subject to change based upon meetings.

Please review all the above procedures and also show them to your guardian and have them signed.  These guidelines are provided to present you with a framework of what is to be expected from you in Biology.
