I became aware of Wyland watching QVC of all things. He had been an (marine) environmentalist for some time. The people on the West Coast would have been more familiar with him because he had done a lot of work in California. In about 1994 he was on an East Coast tour doing Whaling Walls in some of the large cities. Wildwood, NJ was chosen in NJ. On the day it was to be completed my daughter Alyza, her friend Sherri, and I drove down there to see it.  These building murals are quite remarkable and I suggest you make it a point to see one-they are all over the world.  Wyland also has books, paintings, prints, and sculpture available for purchase that are all very beautiful. Visit his website to learn all about ocean life and for more information on his foundation.
One of Wyland's beautiful images.
Left, Sheri and Alyza with the "Wildwood Wayland Wall" in background. Right, the dedication of the finished wall. My photos don't do the mural justice because as you can tell it is massive and goes around the right side of the building, also.  This wall is one of the smallest murals Wyland has done.
