Travis
Support: Doves
Venue: Brighton Centre
Date: 2/3/02
I had already seen Travis at the same venue the previous December (see travis 1) and was looking froward to it even more as I knew what to expect. We arrived at two outside the VIP enterence but the coach didn't arrive till four so we waited for quite a while. The band came out one at a time all looking quite relaxed apart from Fran who wasn't feeling that well. Once that excitement was over we went round the front to que up for the gig.
Once we got let in I managed to get to the front as I had run, despite the fact I managed to get my foot stuck in the revolving door. I was standing right in front of Fran which was good.
The Doves came on first and were ok but not that great the last three in my opinion were the best ones. I did prefere I am Kloot to the Doves but I did enjoy the set. They got everyone in a good mood for the Travis set which is always a good thing.
When Travis came on everyone became very happy, most of them had come to the same gig that I had been to formally. They started off the set with Sing which had become everyones favorite Travis song since Why Does It Always Ran On Me. The gig ran smoothly until a drunk teenager started talking very loudly why Fran was doing a acoustic version of Dear Diary. He tackled this by telling her to shut up, but this wasn't the only distraction once he had told the girl to shut up a bell went off for a few seconds. Then he frogot the rest the song. One of the best bits was the backdrop for 'Coming Around', they got a boy from the audience to control a giant version of a playstation car game. The gig ended with Fran thanking us for coming out as he felt we were a dying breed coming out to see live music.
The gig turned out to be better then I thought it would be a if I had the chance I will definatly be going to see them again.
