Coggs said his first order of business is to get the club back into the play-offs. After 3 consecutive play-off appearances and a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in season 1, the Canucks failed to qualify for the post-season in season 4. Coggs stated, "That is not acceptable around here. Lonsing is a funny thing. Once you get used to it, it becomes a tough habit to break."
When asked about his immediate plans for the club as far as personnell, Coggs was non-commital. "We have the expansion draft coming up. Once that is over, I will have a better of idea of where I need to look to improve the club.
