Weather
Todays weather here in Eleuthera
is calm. There are no signs of Edward here. The skies are bright blue with occasional
scattered clouds. There is a thirty to forty percent chance of rain today.
The glorious sunny summer continues with the temperature today getting up
into the mid to low nineties.
News
To the north of the Central
Bahamas the tropical storm Eduard is churning and threatening the Eastern
Florida coast. This activity will do two things today if nothing else. It
will stop the flights of tourists into the Bahamas and discontinue the flight
into Florida for the Bahamas. Either way our economy looses today and
probably through Friday because of the formation of the storm. However there
is nothing else for us to do but thank God that we were speared the wrath and
move on.
Otherwise in Eleuthera those who
can work are working and all else is quiet.
Fishing Report
The fishermen have taken to the
calm Eleuthera seas today for another chance to catch that greatest elusive
catch and set the market afire with news of their bravery in catching the
biggest fish. As an aside the local fishermen compete with each other and
watch the catch of each other in some sort of local competition for the
reputation of being known as the best diver on the docks. That is one of the
ways they relax and have some fun after being out in the dangerous waters of
the Caribbean.

Weather
Another wonderful day of weather
for the lovely island of Eleuthera. The sun is out and the temperature is
around ninety degrees farenheit. The sky is sunny with occasional cloudy, scattered
skies. It’s a wonderful warm day for the beach. There is a slight breeze
across the landscape today.
News
In Eleuthera today the mood
overall is quiet. Those who have jobs have attended them. School has just
opened since yesterday and children are back in school for the entire day.
Otherwise the inhabitants of
Eleuthera are complaining about the job situation since there are no jobs
available for the inhabitants. Some blame the government saying that they
were promised the speedy creation of jobs. This has not taken place after the
new government has been elected. Many are feeling the disappointment.
There is lots of entertainment on
the island these days. On the weekends beginning on Friday nights the weekly
and original Friday night fish fry is held in Governors Harbor at Anchor bay.
Then on Saturday night Savannah Sound has reopened their fish fry for patrons
who love good food music and drinks until the wee, wee hours of the morning.
Fishing Report
There is much fishing now adays
going on on the island since the weather has settled and fishermen are able
to get to the fishing grounds far beyond the island. However many say that
the supply of fish and conchs especially is becoming noticeable at the fish
markets daily. There are shortages since the fishermen say they have to go
further and deeper for the conchs. There is much concern by government which
has reported via the media that they are considering placing seasonal
restraints on certain fish species like the grouper and the conch especially.
They must do this to replenish stock of the precious necessary resource.

Weather
Today is another beautiful day in
the Bahamas. The temperature is in the upper eighties. We’re under sunny
skies with occasional scattered clouds. It is a wonderful day for the beaches
today.
News
It is rumored in Eleuthera today
that a government friendly corporation will be taking over the government
highschool transportation contract from the former government friendly group
effective immediately. The group will order new busses for the transportation
contract. For the time being the old contractors will fulfill their contracts
until further notice from the present PLP central government.
In addition there will be a new
PLP government administrator placed in the governments road traffic
department on Eleuthera. This new administrator will come from the road
traffic department in Nassau, Bahamas.
It would seem that the last
government revenue generating venues on Eleuthera will be garnered by the
present PLP government solely for the economic benefit of their supporters.
The record will show that this wasnot done by the former FNM administration.
Where to from here? These moves by the present PLP government are certainly
victimization at least if carried out by the government.
In the private sector as well it
is rumored that Windermere Highschool has been reverted back into the hands
of the local settlement of Savannah Sound where a local head mistress has
been put in place as head mistress of the prominent boarding highschool. The
school was allowed to operate under the guidance and leadership of the former
Gospel Missionary Union headquartered in the Mid west United states for the
past thirty years. The GMU appearantly has been given a pivotal role still in
the running of the highschool.
Also as reported by the first lady of Eleuthera the
speaker of the house of assembly and his wife will be embarking on a two week
trip to Africa. The couple will be a part of a fact finding group from the
PLP government of the Bahamas on a fact finiding mission to the mother
continent. Africa is a well renoun subject in the existence of the Bahamas
and is highly regarded as the birth place and origin of our culture and our
people. Junkanoo, our music and our local dialect being the most appearant of
these ancestoral ties.
Fishing Report
Fishermen have embarked for the
past few weeks on a renewed energy of getting back on course after a few
spells of bad weather. Fishermen have been getting back to the business of
daily fishing and the daily fish market has seen a renewed revival of
products as a result. You can now purchase your daily supply of fish products
at the local ish market in Tarpum Bay Once again.

Weather
Dear friends the weather in
Eleuthera today is overcast and it has been threatening to have rain the
whole day and hasn’t. I’m sure you have seen days like that here. The
tempuerature is a cool 87 degrees today. The winds are calm and there is
hardly a breeze across the island today.
News
The news in Eleuthera centers
around the fact that even up to today there has been no meaningful
announcement of development of the economy of Eleuthera by the government of
the Bahamas. The only major project going on in Eleuthera today is the
rebuilding of the airport runway at North Eleuthera airport by a local
Bahamian construction company. That project was started and has been going on
under the old government so the present government cannot claim to have
started that venture as they have been doing.
Economically Eleuthera is
stagnant. In this regard we are no doing well at all. There are no tourists
coming there are no hotels open. There is but only illegal economic activity.
The culture, the pride, the humor
of Eleutherians is dying right before our eyes even after such great promises
by the new government. In their mission they are failing already at being
able to provide economic alternatives for the native people of Eleuthera.
There has been all talk and no truth to all of their promises. Eleuthera
continues to die a slow economic death. Eleutherians remain helpless and
humble.
Fishing
Fishing in Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera
continues to do fine on a daily basis. The weather is good for the fishermen
these days and the guys are catching the fish they can to sustain a good
standard of sales.

Weather
Eleuthera ufortunately is in the
middle of a draught period as related by the farmers of the island. Many of
the farmers are now complaining about the lack of water on the island. Most
of the cloud cover is blown over the island at a fast pace since in the past
few weeks we have had quite windy conditions. Today the weather is partially overcast with occasional rain
clouds built up over the community. Its been a great day for the beach. The
cool breezes frequenting the island fight the dense humidity. The temperature was up into the low nineties
today with the occasional chance of rain.
News
Local government were elected to
the office to serve the community of Tarpum Bay on May the 27th
three weeks after the general elections took place in the Bahamas. Other
communities have gotten off to a great start by holding meetings and deciding
on some local projects they will be doing and improving in their respective
communities. However as has been customary for the past ten years the elected
body has not had one public meeting to explain to and meet the general public
who supported them in their run for office during the end of May. The elected officials of local government
need to act fast here in Tarpum bay in order to win the confidence of the
general public. Since the body has not been doing a good job in the past it
is imperative that they shapen up and treat the community with the respect it
deserves. At least they should stick
to the schedule of the central government which calls for quarterly meetings
to be held in every community around the country. We’ll have to see if local
government in Tarpum Bay have learnt a lessen from the past regime or will
they do the same? Hope not.
Fishing report
Bad weather marred the fishing for
the past few days in the community. Not many fishermen were out in the water
due to the bad weather and the prospect
of having to run home from a passing hurricaine formation or something
similar to that. We’ll have to hope
that the weather subsides and returns to normal for the hard working
fishermen of Tarpum Bay to return back to work.

Weather
The weather in Tarpum Bay today is
warm. The temperature is into the low nineties with scattered cloudy skies.
The chance of rain is low today. August is the warmest month in the Bahamas
traditionally. It is a great day for the beach or sitting by the seashore
where there is a great amount of breeze flowing along the seashore of the
island.
News
The atmosphere in Eleuthera is
quiet. The holiday is over. Homecoming this year was a great success. People
attended the homecoming event from several distant areas of the globe and from
as far away as California and Britain.
This further encourages the local community organization in their
efforts to bring joy and unity during the homecomings at least if not
throughout the remainder of the year. People had lots of fun on the kids rides,
enjoying the unique Bahamian cuisine and drinking lots of Kalik beer and
guiness stout. Kalik beer happens to be the favorite beverage in the Bahamas
among the adult drinking population. Dishes like jerk pork, chicken, crack
conch, fried chicken, conch salad, conch fritters, crab and rice, and many
more Bahamian favorites were served by the wide variety of private food
vendors who bought the stall space to sell food.
The music and fashion/talent shows
were quite nice. Many local girls and guys from the community were
participants in these events. Homecoming in Tarpum Bay is a great time to
visit the island for a vacation. You will definitely not be alone. The entire
town is converged upon and thousands of people enjoy the goodtimes and
hospitality which go along with a holiday in the Bahamas and Eleuthera
island. See you there next August first. It’s the greatest time in your life
you’ll ever experience.
Fishing Report
This summer has been marred with
bad weather for the fishermen. Each week there is a weather scruff blowing up
which impedes the fishermen from freely fishing the seas as they normally
would. Some elements of weather are reorganizing in our area and are limiting
the fishing progress that begins the lobster season opening on August 1st.
Lets hope that the weather will simmer down so our fishermen can bring in
more lobster and grouper for our daily fish market here in Tarpum Bay. Any
good weather day large quantities of fish products are available for purchase
at the fish market at the docks in Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera, Bahamas.

Weather
The weather today is delightful
and sunny. The temperature today will get up to the low to mid nineties with
clear skies and lots of sun.
News
Home coming in Eleuthera is over.
Everyone attending both the Hatchet Bay and the Tarpum Bay homecoming had a
great time. There were lots of activities this year and we had people coming
to the park from as far away as Britian and California. There were fishing
contests to fashion and dancing contests. Each night the park in Tarpum Bay
and Hatchet Bay were filled with various spectators enjoying the food the
drinks and the festivities. There were lots of new activities that included
boxing and a boxcart building tournament. There were more than twenty stalls
for the vendors and lots of other venues for visitors to have a wonderful
time.
So good by until next year to all.
See you again soon at the Back to the Bay homecoming fest. Get your housing
and transportation booked early if you intend to attend next year.
Fishing Report
Reports say that Lots of lobster are being caught and available for
sale at the docks here in Tarpum Bay. The fisherman are reportedly catching
above fifty to eighty pounds of the good stuff. Lots of grouper and conch is
being caught as well. So if your looking for some very fresh just caught fish
products like file’ and lobster make you way to the Tarpum Bay fish market
before four PM in the day for your share of the daily catch.
