3/6/02 I can't believe how long it has been since I last wrote. I am tired tonight and I am ready for bed. Gary has been so sick. He is weak, vomiting and just plain uncomfortable. His second round of chemo ended Sunday. Spoke to the doctor today, it's 'unusual' to be this sick after three days. He is short of breath, just walking from the car. He made it to work yesterday, for two hours and did not make it at all tonight. I don't know how he has gone all this time. Strong and stubborn. It really hursts to see him so sick. I have tried to give him a few pointers though...on getting sick, since I'm a pro and all! But, that hasn't helped. Haha. We are moving. Yeah! Finally. Our plan was to do this next year, but there is no better time than the present. It's about five minutes from here, same school and daycare. Much bigger than here, and on some great land to boot. It has kept me very busy, which is a blessing. Work is crazy and I can't concentrate, my mind is racing...several things, good and bad. Dallas asks questions everyday...they crack you up and tear your heart out at the same time. I'm not ready to share that yet. Besides, you might pass judgement. I think that it's good that we talk about it, but you might not. I don't bring it up, but she does...everyday. Her little brain is working ovetime, she's a smart cookie. Til next time, take care, love, Shelly

3/8 Good morning! We are up and ready to get packing this morning. Not Gary, just us little chickies. He was pretty sick last night, I expect he will rest all day. We have locked in our rate for the house, and they are ready to roll...just have to get that nice lady out of her house :-). So the house is a little to small and we have a contractor/friend who is coming in as soon as we settle to start a small addition up stairs. He will lift up the roof over the garage and make two bedrooms. Perfect! It's kind of exciting now that I have a plan. What's going, what's not. When to get this furniture and leave that here, etc. The kitchen is big and the living room is bigger, no dining room. It's funny, but that is the way I always wanted my kitchen. If you have a kitchen, what do you need a dining room for? Yeah, Yeah, I know, but I don't need one. Anyway, I thought I would share the good things today. I am strong, but my heart is not. Thanks Carrie for the card, it was perfect. God bless, Much Love, in my not-so-strong heart, Shelly
3/11-Well I have just a few minutes to write and say we have had a very rough night and it continues today. Gary is in great pain in his lower back. He is unable to move without pain. Percocet is only giving about 3 hours of relief and rest. We head for philly in the morning. I'm sure there will be tests. We were scheduled for Friday, but we will go tomorrow. Kids are staying at daycare until late this evening. I must go for now. I will update when I can. Will you pray for him? Ease his pain. Shelly
3/12 Yesterday was bomb. A little scary But we are back from the doctor today. They gave him some Oxcycontin for his pain. This is a longer lasting pain med, he can also take the Percocet inbetween if he needs to. He is doing much better today. He didn't want to go to Philly this morning, just dredding that trip. His pain is better and he is a little groggy...he is tired. It's a little nosiey here, of course. But we are just heading in to read stories and watch TV together...thats me and the girls. They will do an MRI of his thoracic spine, asap. And figure out what we are dealing with. His doctor wants to do radiation if it is truly the melanoma causing the pain. Do you think it's the football game he played in on Sunday? Good greif, you know all ready what it is. Anyway, I will keep you up to speed. Thank God he is feeling a bit better today. We will see how the night goes. Still vomiting...I think he's gonna get a little better now. See you for now, miss you. Shelly
3/14 It's midnight and I'm just getting settled in. After his MRI this am, I fixed him. We rolled him right to the ER on the stretcher! He was so sick. Still is, but doing much better. Dehydrated, has fever...104, so far urine infection but something else maybe brewing, they are still working him up. His MRI shows multiple spinal metastatsis....multiple tumors in his back. Vertebra, pleural Not just one, most of them. He can't ever do anything half-assed, go BIG or stay home. He's killin' me. His pain is controlled really well today. They also did a CT scan of his brain, negative. But, they are getting an MRI of the brain tomorrow, took make sure. Hasn't vomitied since about 5:30! The vomiting is most likely due to the liver mets. I must get some rest, thanks for all the posts on the MPIP BB! I will post there soon. Shelly
