REPORT ON GLOSA ELECTIONS 20TH  DECEMBER 2005

Ghana-Lebanon Old Students Association (GLOSA) on Thursday the 20th of December 2005 at 10am, held its first elections at the premises of the school. The elections was conducted by the Electoral College (Master Abdul Hamid, Master Tamimu Safiano Baba and Madam Ruwiedah Mohammed).

The election was held to elect the first executives of the Association who will work hand-in- hand to move the Association forward.

Among the various positions available to be vied for were the President, Vice President, General Secretary, Vice General Secretary, Organizing Secretary, Publicity Officer and the last, the Treasurer.

These positions were boldly vied for by some members of the Association.

Aspirants of these positions were given a chance to read their manifesto and as well convince the house as to why they think they were eligible for such positions.

Members were not left out either; they were giving the opportunity to ask questions to the aspirants.

The elections started twenty minute (20min) after the campaign. This was done through balloting. Members, including the aspirant took turns to cast their votes.

At the end, the votes were counted by the Electoral College together with the help of two observers (Abdul Rahman Lary and Zubairu). After the votes were fairly counted and both sides were satisfied; results were then declared by Abdul Humid-Chairman of the Electoral College.

Adada Abdul Rahim who emerged as the President of the Association on his behalf and that of other executives expressed their gratitude to the house for their unflinching support towards the elections as well as their votes.

The newly elected executives were:

Master Adada Abdul Rahim                             President

Master Frederick Attoh                                    Vice President

Madam Inna Ibrahim                                        General Secretary

Madam Humu Malingah                                    Vice General Secretary

Master Baro Hussain Alhassan             Organizing Secretary

Madam Hamida Lebeeh                                   Vice Organizing Secretary

Master Mohammed Ahmed Sheriff                   Publicity Officer

Master Nyemewerow Gusele                            Treasurer

Master Mahmud Nkrumah                              Vice Treasurer

.The executives were then sworn into office by the Electoral College and the outgoing exercutives handed over their files to them.

Five members of the judicial committee were also nominated by the house.

A token of appreciation goes to the Electoral College, Old Students, and Executives of GLOSA for the cooperation in making the election a success.

Indeed it was a free and fair election.

OBSERVATIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS

Though the election was a free and fair one, the turn out was low.

I will appeal to members to inform other members, to take a great deal in participating in all activities which are yet to be organized by the Association, all for the success of the Association.
