Sunday July 16, 2006 Frank & I went to 8:30 service on our motorcycle like a normal Sunday morning. We had an awesome service the spirit of the Lord led our Praise & Worship leader to call people to the front for prayer. As an Alter worker I was praying for someone and next to me was another worker praying for Vickie. Vickie got slained in the Spirit. When I was finished praying for this person I looked at Vickie on the floor and the Lord said "SHE'S GETTING READY". Knowing she was leaving on Wednesday for the ladies retreat at the missions house and going across the border to Mexico I thought she's getting filled up to give out. When she got up from the floor she said WOW I did not realize how bad I needed that I think I even fell asleep and we laughed. She sat on the chair to get her barrings I went to her touched her head and said THANK YOU LORD for getting my sister ready for somewhere I can't go. Still thinking of Mexico. We normaly always went together for Ladies Retreats and in November but this time I was not going. Frank & I was leaving church when we walked out of the church I felt I had to go back in and talk to Vickie. I told Frank what I was feeling and I said do you want me to ask Vickie to come eat with us? So I went back in and she was talking with some people and I asked her do you want to come eat with us? We were going to Abbeville to eat lunch. When we were on the bridge I saw a white car going toward the railing of the bridge I thought if she hits that parts of the car will fly in our lane. I shouted JESUS!!!!! Then the car over corrected and came in our lane. Frank manovered the bike to get out of they way which caused us to Jackknife the bike and the backend came up. I felt like I was flying over Frank so I caught his vest to pull myself back down. When I came back down I wrapped my arms around my back rest and clamped my legs as tight as I could and cried help us JESUS!!!!!! He did because the car passed soo close to us I thought she had hit us but it was the wind from the car. Frank saw the bumper to be maybe an inch from our right hand saddlebag. We took her lane to get away from her as she was in ours. Then at the foot of the bridge was an 18 wheeler who had stopped Thank God because he saw how the woman was driving. He thought we were gonna hit him because we were in his lane. We did not hit the 18 wheeler we know the LORD just was not ready for us. When we finally saw we had not hit either vehicles I turned around and saw the car hit Vickie and I hollered oh JESUS she hit Vickie and came to a stop got off the bike . I grabed my cell phone, Frank turned around the bike and went to her, I called 911. and flaged down the traffic for them not to run over Frank or Vickie. There Vickie layed on the black top Frank & I praying for her Frank looked at her face with no expression. She took a deep breath and then had a smile on her face. Her bike was on fire and pinned under the car so the car caught on fire as well. The ambulance got there very quickly then, the fire dept. put out the fire. I was on the cell phone calling our Pastor Farley Painter to get the church to pray because I did not comprehend at the time the Smile was when she saw the LORD. Absent in the body is to be present with the LORD. Those words were all I could hear. As people recognized us especially other bikers they stopped.Thank God for that because after the adrenalin was slowing down I felt soo lost of who to call knowing her cell phone with all the numbers of her family was on her bike which was on fire. Then the State Trooper required us to fill out a statement. While every part of Frank & I's body was shaking by this time. Vickie Loved riding her bike and doing GOD'S work she went home doing what she loved. As I write this my heart is pounding and I feel some of what I felt that day. We sure do miss her the only way we can explain us not leaving at the same time as her is GOD has more work for us to do here. He just was not ready for Frank & I. |
