Within American society people have become increasingly vocal, and relatively open about subjects once considered taboo. The Jewish community involves themselves in many areas of secular society as well, however, certain issues are contiually swept under the rug. Sexual orientation is an issue that is constantly ignored. Members of the gay community are often ostracized, alienated, and in general not tolerated by the Jewish community. The classroom setting, which is supposed to serve as a safe haven, often becomes a place were prejudice and intolerance is fostered. Here at "Teens4Tolerance" we wish to educate, spread awareness, acceptance, and tolerance amongst Jewish teens toward the gay community.
