Personal in Ham Radio :
Interested in "Rattling-Brass"
and designing radical filter circuits for my Vintage HW-8 Rig.
Best Contact :

Y Siempre, estoy celebrando los recuerdos de viejos amigos mÃos.
Personal History :
This is where I came from in the 50's :
When did you first hear CW ?
For me it was as K4KKQ, teenager,
in the mid 50's, at Norfolk, VA,
the Naval Air Station, in the Ham Shack.
The Navy CW ops were exceptional !
The chiefs could, and would operate at 65 wpm.
They could and would give lessons, demos, QSO,
at any speed.
Just 13 years from WWII in the Pacific,
on Carriers, Destroyers, and Submarines,
these radio ops had three things going for them
that I never had
(1) Talent
(2) Opportunity,
(3) Motivation that Only Comes
from Knowing there are Incoming Torpedoes !!!

My QRP favorite contact as general class, KK4LPG.
On 2013, March 17, 1700 EST, on 20M 14.041,
between WY4J and KK4LPG, at 862 miles.
Registered on www.QRZ.com, and confirmed both-ways !
TX = 1 Watt out, SWR = 1:8, EPO = 0.2 Watt
into a metered antenna tuner and then into the antenna (telephone cable in attic).
So, my little 0.2 Watt for 862 miles is equivalent to 4310 miles per watt !
Just a drop in the QRP bucket.
Big Surprise for me March 17, 2013 !
